Personal Notes

This batch was first introduced to me by an astrologer seated in front of Hua Lamphong Temple, where people go to make coffin donations. He spoke about a new nine-year Deva cycle and predicted that Jatukam Ramathep would once again become active among devotees during this period.

He believed that, during this cycle, Jatukam would be especially sought after for support in wealth, opportunity and livelihood. I did not think too deeply about it at the time, but I kept a piece from this batch for myself and began wearing it.

In my own experience, my business later grew to around twice its previous level. I introduced this edition to customers when it was still affordable, as I felt its ritual background and group of masters made it a meaningful piece to share.

Prices for this batch have since risen around two to three times. As these pieces were obtained years ago, I am maintaining my earlier price so that more devotees may still have the opportunity to own and wear one. At the time of this posting, only three pieces remain.

Summary

Phra Jatukam Ramathep from Wat Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, BE 2549, struck in copper and silver wrapped. This was a major commemorative edition created to raise funds for the construction of a Pillar Shrine at Wat Sirindhorn Thep Rattanaram, under Royal Patronage, in honour of the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s reign.

The batch underwent three ceremonies across 2006, ending with a large consecration at Phanom Rung Historical Park in Buriram.

Historical Background

Wat Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, stands at the centre of the modern Jatukam Ramathep tradition. The BE 2549 period became one of the most important eras for Jatukam issues, with temple editions from this period now closely studied by collectors and devotees.

This edition was created with a formal charitable purpose. Its proceeds supported the construction of a Pillar Shrine at Wat Sirindhorn Thep Rattanaram, giving the batch a direct connection to a royal commemorative project.

Origins of the Materials

This example is struck in copper, a traditional material used for Thai sacred medallions. It has a solid feel, clear relief detail and is suitable for regular wear.

Each piece is silver wrapped to protect the original copper amulet and provide a clean, formal finish.

Ritual

The first ceremony was held on 13 February 2006, Makha Bucha Day. At 9.59am, the Chief Brahmin conducted the sacred casting of the nine-headed Jatukam Naprok.

On 1 April 2006, a nine-headed Naga Jatukam statue was cast within Wat Mahathat. Thirty-two monks and masters from the deep South attended this ritual.

The final and largest ceremony took place on 19 June 2006 at Phanom Rung Historical Park, Buriram. This ancient mountaintop sanctuary is associated with the reign of King Jayavarman VII and carries more than 900 years of regional history.

Blessings and Effects

Jatukam Ramathep is traditionally associated with protection, authority, smooth livelihood and the clearing of obstacles. Devotees often wear it for greater confidence in business, work and personal direction.

This edition is especially valued for its three-stage consecration and the combined blessings of respected masters from Surin, Buriram and Southern Thailand.
