Look Om (Look Sakot)
Por Sala Tan
1.5 Inches
Mainstream Artifact
Sacred Craftsmanship
This Look Om, traditionally known as Look Sakot, was created by Por Sala Tan from the seed of an unusual old tree selected specifically for the powerful natural characteristics observed around it.
Each Look Om was individually prepared from a natural seed. Variations in size, shape, surface texture, colour, resin, binding and surviving gold leaf are therefore inherent to the material and make every piece individually unique.
Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits
Among Por Sala Tan's luksits, Look Sakot pieces are traditionally appreciated for a combination of Seneh and commanding presence.
Those involved in sales or business may carry them when dealing with customers, competitors or negotiations. Rather than describing the effect purely as romantic attraction, owners often understand Sakot as helping one's presence become more noticeable and difficult to overlook.
This distinction is important.
Seneh encourages people to feel positively towards the bearer, while the Sakot aspect traditionally concerns establishing a stronger position in relation to surrounding influences.
Some luksits therefore favour this type of Look Om when entering highly competitive situations. The symbolism of the parent tree — standing while surrounding vegetation could not easily compete within its immediate area — became a natural metaphor for holding one's ground and reducing interference from competitors.
Others carry it principally for prosperity, regarding the combination of the unusual seed and gold leaf as particularly appropriate for business and financial opportunity.
Summary
The Look Om (Look Sakot) demonstrates Por Sala Tan's practice of selecting natural materials whose existing characteristics already corresponded with the wicha he intended to develop.
The seed came from an unusual tree said to maintain a remarkably clear area around itself, with little competing vegetation growing within approximately ten metres.
For Por Sala Tan, this made the seed particularly appropriate for Sakot — commanding or suppressing competing influences — while simultaneously carrying Seneh qualities of attraction and personal magnetism.
Prepared with resin, sacred binding and gold leaf, the finished Look Om is traditionally associated with Seneh, Metta Maha Niyom, prosperity, authority, protection and the attraction of favourable opportunities.
Historical Background
Look Om refers broadly to compact sacred objects intended to be carried easily upon the person. Their materials and purposes vary greatly according to the lineage and master responsible for their creation.
Look Sakot belongs to a more specialised category.
The idea of Sakot in folk wicha concerns restraining, suppressing or establishing dominance over an opposing influence. Depending upon the tradition, this principle can be expressed through sacred inscriptions, particular natural substances or materials selected because their observable characteristics symbolically reproduce the desired effect.
Por Sala Tan frequently worked according to this latter principle.
A naturally unusual object was not valued simply because it was rare. Its behaviour, origin and characteristics determined what type of sacred work it was considered suitable for.
The tree associated with this Look Sakot was notable precisely because other vegetation was said to struggle within its immediate surroundings.
Within traditional symbolic thinking, the tree therefore demonstrated its character before any ritual work was performed upon its seed.
Origins of the Materials
The principal material is the seed of a rare and unusually dominant tree.
According to the history surrounding the piece, the parent tree maintained a naturally clear zone extending approximately ten metres around itself. Underbrush, weeds and competing plants were notably absent or unable to establish themselves normally within this area.
This gave the tree a reputation comparable to certain powerful royal woods or Raja Kayu, whose presence is traditionally associated with natural authority and commanding energy.
Por Sala Tan selected seeds from this tree rather than substituting ordinary wood or manufactured material.
The natural seed was subsequently preserved and stabilised with resin, allowing its original form to remain recognisable.
Sacred binding was incorporated around the upper section, while gold leaf was applied to part of the surface.
The gold traditionally represents auspiciousness, prosperity and merit, complementing the dominant natural character attributed to the seed itself.
Ritual
Por Sala Tan's approach began with the character of the material.
The seed was selected because the behaviour attributed to its parent tree already corresponded with Sakot wicha. Ritual preparation was therefore intended to direct and strengthen an existing symbolic quality rather than impose an unrelated function upon the material.
The seed was prepared and sealed with resin before sacred binding was added.
Gold leaf was then applied as an auspicious element associated with prosperity, merit and favourable fortune.
During consecration, the Look Om was directed towards a combination of Sakot, Seneh and protective qualities.
The resulting object therefore carries two complementary movements: drawing favourable people and opportunities towards the bearer while traditionally helping to restrain or repel competing and harmful influences.
Blessings and Effects
The principal quality of this Look Sakot is Seneh combined with commanding presence.
For personal interaction, it is traditionally associated with attraction, charm and becoming more noticeable to others.
Through Metta Maha Niyom, it may be carried for goodwill, favourable treatment and smoother relationships with customers, colleagues, employers and people encountered in everyday life.
For business, its Sakot character is particularly significant. The symbolism of the dominant parent tree is applied to situations involving competition, negotiation and maintaining one's position.
Prosperity forms another important aspect. The seed is traditionally regarded as a magnet for wealth, opportunities and favourable circumstances, reinforced symbolically by the applied gold leaf.
The Look Om is also associated with protection — particularly the repelling of black magic, harmful spiritual influences and malevolent entities.
Finally, Sakot wicha carries an association with status and authority, making the piece relevant to those seeking stronger recognition or presence within professional and social environments.
Modern Application
The Look Sakot is particularly suited to those whose daily lives involve competition and interpersonal dealings.
Business owners and salespeople may carry it for customer attraction, smoother negotiations and maintaining a stronger position against competitors.
Those working in management or leadership may value its traditional association with authority and recognition.
Its Seneh qualities also make it suitable for social situations where approachability, personal charm and favourable first impressions are important.
For practitioners primarily concerned with protection, the same piece may be carried as a traditional barrier against unwanted spiritual influences and negativity.
Its small rounded form makes it particularly convenient for discreet everyday carrying.
Physical Details
This Look Om (Look Sakot) was individually prepared by Por Sala Tan from the natural seed of a rare tree traditionally noted for maintaining a clear area around itself where competing vegetation struggled to grow. The seed retains its naturally rounded form and dark brown surface and was prepared with resin, sacred binding and an applied section of gold leaf. Natural variations in size, shape, colour, texture, resin finish and surviving gold leaf are expected between individual examples. The piece is presently protected within a clear casing.
Recommended Pairing
Because the Look Sakot already combines Seneh, Sakot, prosperity and protection, it can function effectively as a compact standalone piece.
For business use, a Phra Sivali provides a natural complement through its traditional association with livelihood, abundance and favourable opportunities.
A Phra Somdej or another Buddha image can instead provide a stronger foundation of Baramee, merit and spiritual stability.
For those particularly interested in Metta, it may also be paired with a dedicated Metta Maha Niyom amulet. The Metta piece supports warmth and goodwill, while the Look Sakot contributes the more commanding qualities of presence, competitive strength and the ability to hold one's position against surrounding influences.
