Sacred Craftsmanship

Known among collectors as Por Sala Tan’s “Stars” pim, this is one of the more philosophical creations within his body of work. At first glance, its concept recalls the famous Dao — Star — amulets associated with LP Pinak, yet Por Sala Tan developed the idea according to his own wicha and understanding of celestial guidance.

His explanation of the piece was remembered simply:

“What would the world be without stars? Without stars, there would be no navigation. Without stars, there would be no progress for humanity. This amulet is a compass for one’s life.”

Each artifact was individually handmade from prepared sacred materials. Natural variations in colour, texture, embedded relics, takrut positioning and overall form therefore make every surviving piece unique.

The photographs are representative only. A piece will be selected at random, and the item supplied may differ slightly from the exact piece shown in the images.

Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Among luksits, the Stars Amulet is generally spoken of as a piece for direction rather than force.

Some owners carried it during periods when they were uncertain about work, business or important personal decisions. Rather than expecting circumstances to change overnight, they described becoming clearer about what they should pursue and, equally importantly, what they should leave behind.

Business owners and working professionals associated another side of the amulet with progress. Opportunities appeared, introductions were made, or previously stagnant matters began moving again. Some regarded these events as the modern expression of the star symbolism — not simply bringing fortune, but helping the owner recognise which direction offered the greatest potential.

Others were drawn more strongly to its Metta and Seneh qualities. They spoke of smoother communication, greater receptiveness from others and a warmer response when approaching customers, colleagues or people from whom assistance was needed.

For some collectors, however, the greatest value of the piece was psychological and spiritual. During periods when life appeared confused, they used the amulet as a reminder to regain their bearings before making the next move.

Summary

Por Sala Tan’s Stars Amulet brings together two apparently opposite symbols:

the stars above and the Yoni below.

The star represents direction, navigation, clarity and progress.

The Yoni represents origin, creation, life and renewal.

Between these two principles stands the individual — born from the earth yet looking towards the heavens for direction.

Its principal traditional qualities are associated with:

Clarity and wisdom — recognising the correct direction before acting.

Wealth and progress — encouraging opportunity, advancement and movement in life.

Metta Maha Niyom — goodwill, assistance and favourable relationships.

Seneh — attraction, personal magnetism and stronger interpersonal connection.

Protection and Baramee — supported by the sacred relic materials incorporated into its foundation.

Por Sala Tan regarded the piece as a spiritual compass, making its purpose broader than a conventional wealth or attraction amulet.

Historical Background

The inspiration behind this piece is connected, according to the lineage account, with a broader stream of practice linking LP Pinak, Ajarn Bed and Por Sala Tan.

One point shared between these masters was their connection with pilgrimage and spiritual study in Northeast India and Varanasi, through which elements associated with Lord Shiva’s wicha entered their respective practices.

The resulting artifacts were not identical.

LP Pinak became particularly well known among collectors for his Dao, or Star, amulets. Por Sala Tan took the celestial principle in his own direction, combining the symbolism of the stars with relic materials, the Yoni and takruts.

The idea of the star as a guide is ancient and practical.

Before modern navigation, people observed the heavens to establish direction and position. Stars allowed travellers to move through environments where roads and landmarks offered little guidance.

Por Sala Tan transformed this simple observation into the philosophy behind the amulet.

If a traveller requires a point of reference to determine where he is going, then a person moving through life also requires something that keeps him from losing direction.

The Stars Amulet was created around this principle.

Origins of the Materials

The principal body consists of prepared sacred soil combined with relic material connected with at least nine holy men, monks and Lersis.

The number and variety of these relics were significant because the amulet was not intended to represent only one narrow branch of wicha. Different sources of accumulated spiritual merit and practice were harmonised within a common foundation.

The reverse contains the distinctive Yoni formation.

Within this piece, the Yoni should not be understood solely through sexuality or attraction. Its deeper symbolism concerns birth and the origin of human life.

Every person enters the world through the womb.

The Yoni consequently represents creation, continuation, filial remembrance and the life force from which human existence begins.

The three takruts incorporated into the reverse complete the ritual structure, supporting the intended balance of clarity, wisdom, Metta, Seneh and prosperity.

Ritual

The preparation of the Stars Amulet centred upon harmonisation.

Relics associated with different holy men, monks and Lersis were first brought together within the sacred soil, creating the physical foundation of the piece.

The Yoni principle was then established upon the reverse.

Rather than treating the celestial and earthly components separately, Por Sala Tan brought them into one ritual composition: the stars providing direction from above while the Yoni represents the source of life below.

Three takruts were positioned within the Yoni arrangement, creating an additional ritual structure through which the intended blessings could be directed.

Chanting and meditative consecration subsequently established the amulet as a complete piece.

Within Por Sala Tan’s classification, it was regarded as a Thep-level artifact rather than a spirit-dependent Barang. It therefore does not require the feeding or offerings traditionally associated with certain Prai pieces.

Its blessings are understood to arise from its consecration, sacred materials and wicha rather than from maintaining an attached spirit.

Blessings and Effects

Clarity and Wisdom are central to the Stars Amulet.

The star functions as a compass. In practical terms, this is traditionally interpreted as supporting judgement, helping the wearer distinguish between productive opportunities and directions that may ultimately lead nowhere.

Progress and advancement naturally follow the same symbolism. Once direction becomes clearer, movement becomes possible.

The wealth aspect therefore concerns more than simply receiving money. It encompasses career advancement, commercial opportunities, new connections and the gradual opening of a path forward.

Metta Maha Niyom supports goodwill and favourable treatment from others, particularly useful where progress depends upon cooperation.

Seneh strengthens attraction and personal presence, complementing Metta where business, relationships or social interaction are important.

The sacred relic materials contribute Baramee and spiritual protection, while the Yoni represents continual creation and renewal — the ability to begin again rather than remaining trapped by an earlier situation.

Modern Application

The Stars Amulet is particularly appropriate during periods of transition.

Someone changing career, beginning a business, considering an investment or deciding between several possible directions may appreciate its traditional emphasis upon clarity and navigation.

For business owners, the combination of wealth, Metta and Seneh makes it suitable for attracting opportunity while maintaining good relationships with customers and business partners.

Those in management or professional work may instead approach it as an artifact for wisdom and progress — remaining aware of the larger direction rather than becoming consumed by immediate difficulties.

It is equally suitable for someone who simply feels that life has become stagnant or directionless.

Unlike certain Barang pieces that require specific observances, this is regarded within the lineage as a Thep-level amulet requiring no regular offerings.

It may also traditionally be worn above or below the waist, making it straightforward for everyday use.

Physical Details

An oval sacred-material amulet made from prepared soil incorporating relic material associated with at least nine holy men, monks and Lersis. The reverse carries the distinctive Yoni formation with three inserted takruts, while visible relic fragments remain embedded within the sacred material. The piece is protected within a clear casing suitable for individual wear. Variations in soil colour, relic placement, takrut position, texture and surface formation are natural characteristics of individually prepared examples.

Recommended Pairing

The Stars Amulet is already unusually broad in character, combining wisdom, wealth, Metta, Seneh, Baramee and protection, and can therefore be comfortably worn alone.

For business, it pairs naturally with a wealth or Metta Maha Niyom artifact, placing greater emphasis upon customer flow, opportunity and favourable commercial relationships.

A Lersi piece complements its wisdom and guidance aspects, particularly for those interested in Kru Baramee, learning and disciplined spiritual development.

A Suer artifact can be added when stronger authority, courage and competitive Baramee are required. In such a combination, the Stars Amulet provides direction while the Suer provides the determination to follow that direction.

What distinguishes this piece, however, is the philosophy behind it.

The Yoni reminds us where life begins. The stars remind us that beginning is not enough — we must still determine where we are going.

For Por Sala Tan, the amulet joined these two ideas into a single artifact: origin below, guidance above, and the path of human progress between them.
