Business owners traditionally keep Guman Thong close to their shops or workplaces, while smaller pendant-sized examples are carried for wealth, customer attraction, protection and guidance.
Summary
Created in BE 2560 (2017), this Guman Thong belongs to the special 102nd Birthday Batch, commemorating Luang Phor Yam reaching 102 years of age.
The edition continues the celebrated Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage inherited by Luang Phor Yam from the legendary Luang Por Tae, one of Thailand's best-known masters of Guman Thong Wicha.
This particular Barang artifact is distinguished by its fully gold-painted finish, covering the figure and pedestal. Sacred white blessing powder can also be seen applied to the head.
Traditionally associated with wealth, business prosperity, attracting customers, protection and intuitive guidance, it represents one of the important late commemorative batches of Luang Phor Yam.
Historical Background
Wat Sam Ngam in Nakhon Pathom became renowned through the Guman Thong Wicha of Luang Por Tae.
His tradition was subsequently preserved by Luang Phor Yam, who became one of the principal custodians of the Wat Sam Ngam lineage and continued producing Guman Thong according to the methods transmitted by his teacher.
By BE 2560, Luang Phor Yam had reached the remarkable age of 102 years.
The 102nd Birthday Batch was created to commemorate this milestone and his lifelong preservation of the Wat Sam Ngam tradition. For collectors, the edition carries particular historical importance because it belongs to the final period of Luang Phor Yam's long life and spiritual practice.
Sacred Materials & Ritual
The Guman Thong was formed from baking clay blended with sacred materials associated with the traditional Wat Sam Ngam formula.
The sacred mixture includes:
-
Holy soils from seven graveyards.
-
Sacred earth from seven piers or ports.
-
Materials collected from other auspicious "seven places".
-
Pong Prai Kumarn sacred powder.
-
Bone fragments.
-
Temple earth.
-
Sacred herbs and flower pollen.
-
Old sacred powders preserved through Luang Por Tae's lineage.
-
Baking clay forming the body of the figure.
After forming and preparing the figure, this particular example received a complete gold-painted finish, extending across the Guman Thong and its pedestal. Sacred white blessing powder was additionally applied to the head.
The sacred materials were carefully prepared before each figure was individually formed and finished by hand. Natural differences in the clay, surface, gold application and blessing powder give every surviving example its own individual character.
Consecration
The batch continued the traditional Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha transmitted from Luang Por Tae to Luang Phor Yam.
The ritual tradition includes the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, symbolically completing the spiritual body of the Guman Thong before its final blessing.
The figures then underwent chanting and meditative consecration according to the established Wat Sam Ngam method.
This direct continuation of the lineage forms an important part of the significance of the 102nd Birthday Batch, connecting the piece with generations of Guman Thong practice at Wat Sam Ngam.
Traditional Blessings
The Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong is traditionally associated with:
Wealth & Business
For attracting customers, improving business activity and encouraging financial opportunities.

Metta & Negotiation
Associated with persuasive speech, smoother negotiations and receiving cooperation from others.

Recommended Pairing
Guman Thong + Nang Kwak
Best for: Business owners, shops, salespeople, commission workers and freelancers.
The Guman Thong is traditionally believed to seek opportunities, attract customers, provide protection and give subtle warnings to its owner.
Nang Kwak is one of Thailand's classic merchant figures, traditionally honoured for beckoning customers, money and profitable trade into a business.
Together, their functions complement each other closely: the Guman Thong is believed to bring opportunities and customers towards the owner, while Nang Kwak calls them into the business and encourages steady trade and cashflow.
This pairing has long been seen in Thai shops, where Guman Thong and Nang Kwak may be positioned facing the entrance as complementary symbols of prosperity.
Personal Notes
The BE 2560 102nd Birthday Guman Thong commemorates an extraordinary milestone in the life of Luang Phor Yam — his 102nd year and decades spent preserving the sacred tradition inherited from Luang Por Tae.
This particular example is especially distinctive for its complete gold-painted finish, giving the entire figure and pedestal a unified golden appearance while retaining the sacred white blessing powder upon the head.
Its traditional sacred-material composition, connection to the original Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha, and place within Luang Phor Yam's 102nd Birthday commemorative release make it a meaningful late-period artifact from one of Thailand's most recognised Guman Thong lineages.
