Phra Ajahn Anucha Anuchato

Wat Pho Ratchaburana, Ratchaburi Province

Overview

Phra Ajahn Anucha Anuchato is one of the most respected contemporary monks of Wat Pho Ratchaburana in Ratchaburi Province. Widely recognised for combining a solid foundation in Buddhist Dhamma with authentic traditional Wiccha, he has earned the trust of entrepreneurs, business owners, collectors, and long-time practitioners seeking practical spiritual guidance for everyday life.

Among the many branches of sacred knowledge he has cultivated, Ajahn Anucha is particularly renowned for his mastery of the ancient Na Ma Pa Ta Wiccha, the esoteric study of the Four Great Elements—Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. In traditional Thai Buddhist mysticism, this is regarded as one of the more advanced disciplines, requiring years of meditation, mantra recitation, elemental contemplation, and strict ethical practice before it can be properly understood and applied.

One remarkable incident that greatly strengthened his reputation occurred during a major consecration ceremony at Wat Pho Ratchaburana. As a severe storm approached the temple grounds, Ajahn Anucha was observed performing the Na Ma Pa Ta Wiccha. According to many disciples and local residents who witnessed the event, the direction of the wind gradually shifted, allowing the storm to move away from the temple while continuing naturally elsewhere. Devotees viewed this not as an attempt to oppose nature, but as a compassionate application of Wiccha that protected the ceremony without disrupting the natural order. The event attracted significant local attention and was recorded by a regional television news crew, later appearing on local news broadcasts. I hope to share this footage and discuss the event in greater detail in a future video.

Rather than seeking fame, Ajahn Anucha has quietly devoted his life to preserving traditional Buddhist teachings while continuing the sacred knowledge passed down through respected masters of Central Thailand. His blessed items are especially sought after for business prosperity, protection, authority, and long-term household stability. Today, many devotees regard him as one of the foremost contemporary masters carrying forward the spiritual traditions associated with the lineage of Luang Pho Deang of Wat Khao Bandai-It.

Early Life

Phra Ajahn Anucha Anuchato was born on 23 August 1964 in Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand.

From an early age, he was immersed in temple life, where he developed a deep appreciation for Buddhism and the ancient mystical sciences preserved by senior monks. His first formal exposure to traditional Wiccha came under the guidance of Luang Pho Sanga, who introduced him to sacred yantras, meditation, and classical Buddhist mystical traditions.

These formative years laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong pursuit of both scriptural learning and authentic spiritual practice.

Ordination & Monastic Journey

Ajahn Anucha first entered the monkhood in 1984, receiving his ordination at Wat Nong Pho.

During this period he devoted himself to studying Buddhist teachings while beginning his journey into traditional Wiccha. Like many Thai men, he later returned to lay life to fulfil family responsibilities. Although no longer wearing the robes, he never abandoned his spiritual studies and continued seeking instruction from respected masters whenever opportunities arose.

In 2009, he returned to the monkhood at Wat Pho Ratchaburana, dedicating himself fully to both Dhamma and Wiccha. Between 2013 and 2015, he successfully completed the full sequence of Nak Tham examinations, further strengthening his understanding of Buddhist doctrine while continuing decades of esoteric training.

His path reflects continual learning rather than isolated periods of study, with more than four decades devoted to preserving both orthodox Buddhism and traditional Thai mystical sciences.

Spiritual Lineage

Throughout his life, Ajahn Anucha sought knowledge from several highly respected teachers, each contributing different aspects to his spiritual development.

His principal teachers include:

Luang Pho Sanga

  • Early foundation in Buddhist mystical sciences.

  • Introduction to sacred yantras and traditional Wiccha.

Luang Pu Non
(Wat Khao Phran Thup)

  • Advanced protective Wiccha.

  • Traditional ritual practice.

  • Consecration methods.

Luang Pho Boonkham
(Wat Chaiyaphum)

  • Sacred yantra inscription.

  • Blessing ceremonies.

  • Advanced empowerment rituals.

Rather than relying upon a single lineage, Ajahn Anucha represents the combined wisdom inherited from several respected masters while remaining firmly grounded in Buddhist discipline.

Wiccha & Areas of Specialisation

Ajahn Anucha's Wiccha is centred on practical applications that support everyday life rather than mystical display.

Na Ma Pa Ta – Mastery of the Four Elements

Among his many areas of expertise, Ajahn Anucha is especially recognised for his mastery of the Na Ma Pa Ta Wiccha, an ancient discipline based upon understanding and harmonising the Four Great Elements—Earth, Water, Wind and Fire.

Within Buddhist cosmology, these elements form the foundation of all physical existence. Through meditation, sacred chanting and traditional ritual practice, experienced practitioners seek to harmonise these elemental energies rather than dominate them.

This Wiccha is traditionally applied for:

  • Protection during important ceremonies.

  • Harmonising environmental energies.

  • Calming disturbances.

  • Safeguarding sacred spaces.

  • Strengthening spiritual stability.

Because this discipline demands years of cultivation, it is regarded as one of the higher branches of traditional Thai Wiccha.

Household Protection

Providing lasting protection for individuals, homes and families while encouraging peace and stability.

Business Prosperity

Helping practitioners remove obstacles, strengthen opportunities and build sustainable financial success.

Authority & Leadership

Increasing confidence, credibility, negotiation skills and personal influence within professional environments.

Sacred Yantra Inscription

Personally inscribing sacred yantras for every batch of blessed items, ensuring each receives direct spiritual attention before consecration.

Traditional Consecration Rituals

Maintaining classical Central Thai blessing methods inherited through generations of respected Buddhist masters.

Personal Values

Despite his reputation, Ajahn Anucha remains known for his humility and dedication to service.

He personally oversees blessing ceremonies, participates directly in temple restoration projects, and continues guiding disciples through practical advice rooted in Buddhist principles.

His teachings consistently emphasise that amulets are not substitutes for effort. Rather, they serve as spiritual companions that strengthen protection, cultivate confidence and help remove unseen obstacles while encouraging practitioners to build their own merit through ethical conduct, generosity and perseverance.

Reputation Among Disciples

Ajahn Anucha enjoys the respect of an exceptionally loyal community of long-term disciples, many of whom are successful entrepreneurs and established business owners throughout Ratchaburi and neighbouring provinces.

During my visits to Wat Pho Ratchaburana, I met numerous followers whose families had practised under respected masters for generations. Many explained that while their fathers had devoted themselves to Luang Pho Deang of Wat Khao Bandai-It, they now continue their family's spiritual journey under Ajahn Anucha.

Their reasons extended beyond lineage alone.

They consistently described him as a monk whose guidance, blessings and amulets continue to provide practical support in their businesses, finances and family life.

Experiences Shared by Devotees

Business Success

One businessman working within Thailand's beauty industry shared that his father had been a devoted collector of Luang Pho Deang. After beginning to wear Ajahn Anucha's blessed items, he experienced significant growth in his business and attributes much of his present prosperity to maintaining that spiritual connection.

Financial Stability

Many entrepreneurs describe stronger cash flow, improved financial discipline, better investment decisions and gradual expansion of their businesses.

Professional Opportunities

Business owners frequently mention smoother negotiations, stronger client relationships and new opportunities appearing during important stages of their careers.

Family Well-being

Long-term disciples often speak about greater harmony within their households together with increased confidence knowing their families remain under spiritual protection.

Temple Contributions

In 2022, Ajahn Anucha initiated the creation of numerous sacred amulets and ritual items to raise funds for the restoration of the Ubosot (Ordination Hall) at Wat Pho Ratchaburana.

Rather than producing items solely for collectors, each batch was created to preserve traditional temple craftsmanship while supporting the long-term development and maintenance of the monastery.

Consecration Philosophy

Ajahn Anucha remains personally involved throughout every stage of production.

He personally inscribes sacred yantras before each item undergoes traditional empowerment through chanting, meditation and ritual consecration.

For the 2022 restoration series, two major blessing ceremonies were conducted on 13 July and 28 July 2022, ensuring each item received multiple rounds of spiritual empowerment before distribution.

Materials Frequently Used

Ajahn Anucha frequently incorporates traditional temple materials into his creations, including:

  • Powdered ancient temple bricks.

  • Gold leaf collected from principal Buddha images.

  • Sacred incense ash from long-standing altars.

  • Fragments of relics associated with respected monks.

  • Traditional yantra powders prepared during temple ceremonies.

These materials reflect centuries of Thai Buddhist craftsmanship while maintaining continuity with traditional consecration methods.

Blessing Philosophy

Ajahn Anucha teaches that spiritual blessings should strengthen, rather than replace, one's own effort.

He believes prosperity is built upon right conduct, generosity, diligence and wisdom. Blessed items serve as reminders of these virtues while helping practitioners cultivate protection, confidence, clarity and favourable opportunities throughout daily life.

His teachings encourage disciples to combine faith with discipline, recognising that lasting success arises from both spiritual cultivation and personal responsibility.

Legacy

Today, Phra Ajahn Anucha is widely regarded as one of the important contemporary monks preserving the traditional Wiccha of Central Thailand.

His balanced approach—combining authentic Buddhist scholarship, practical spiritual guidance, advanced elemental Wiccha, and traditional consecration methods—has earned him the respect of collectors, entrepreneurs and practitioners throughout Thailand. As older generations gradually pass on, many families now regard Ajahn Anucha as the natural continuation of the spiritual values and traditions they have followed for decades.

  • Executives and managers.

  • Investors making important financial decisions.
