Chao Khun Sangwara (Chum) was a highly respected senior monk, known for embodying the Four Brahma Viharas (loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity).

Because of this, he was deeply revered by laypeople and devotees. During his lifetime, many people came to his temple to listen to his teachings and practice Vipassana meditation under his guidance. With his deep knowledge and ability, he generously imparted all that he had learned to others.

He was also the last monk to be granted the royal fan made of woven elephant ivory (Phat Na Nang), a prestigious honor previously held by Luang Pu Iam of Wat Nang. After Chao Khun Sangwara, no monk ever received this honor again—either because no one was deemed suitable or because the ivory material was too rare and costly to produce further.

Chao Khun Sangwara (Chum) was a teacher of several important monks on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, including Luang Pu Nak of Wat Rakhang, Luang Phor Pring of Wat Bang Pakok, and Luang Pu Toh of Wat Pradoochimplee, among others.

Modern amulets can sometimes command higher prices than historical pieces, yet lack the depth of lineage and proven history. An old amulet like this carries more than ritual—it carries a direct connection to the life, merits, and teachings of one of Bangkok’s great teachers, who was also a mentor to legendary masters such as Luang Pu Nak, Luang Phor Pring, and Luang Pu Toh.
