Summary
A singular Guman Thong Dum Ngern created by Por Sala Tan, containing the spirit of a single liberated child. Carved from the charred wood of the site where the child perished, this piece carries both prai and merit-transfer energy. After a three-night liberation ceremony, it became an active yet benevolent guman specializing in wealth, luck, and business service. Encased in silver and measuring approximately one inch, this is a one-of-one creation within Por Sala Tan’s lifetime work.
Historical Background
This Guman Thong Dum Ngern originated from the tragic death of a young boy known in the village for his mischievous, playful nature. He was often scolded for his behavior, though never with malice. One evening, driven by hunger, he stole a small piece of bread from a local shop. When the incident reached his parents, they punished him by locking him overnight inside a chicken coop to teach him discipline.
That same night, an accidental fire broke out. Trapped within, the boy perished before help could arrive. The following weeks were filled with unrest: his parents repeatedly dreamt of him calling for help, crying, and appearing covered in ash. Villagers began to avoid the area as they sensed a lingering sadness and chill around the burnt remains of the coop.
Origins of the Material
Understanding the child’s spirit was caught in a karmic loop of fear and guilt, Por Sala Tan was invited to the site. From the remnants of the fire, he selected a section of the charred wood imbued with the child’s energy. Using this sacred material, he personally carved the small Guman Dum Ngern figure, later coating it with protective herbal mixtures and traces of prai ash from the same event — a symbolic act of reconciling pain into purpose.
Ritual
The liberation ceremony lasted three nights. Each night focused on a different stage of release: acknowledgment, forgiveness, and transformation. Por Sala Tan performed the main rites, assisted by local monks who conducted sangkatan (merit offerings) on behalf of the departed child. On the final night, offerings were made at dawn to invite the spirit to transition into guardian form, freeing it from the cycle of suffering.
Once the ritual was complete, the energy shifted — from sorrowful to joyful, from trapped to purposeful. The Guman became fully liberated and was placed under Por Sala Tan’s spiritual guardianship.
Blessings and Effects
This Guman Thong Dum Ngern is known for its restless yet devoted energy. It actively seeks to serve its keeper by drawing customers, securing business leads, and increasing turnover — especially in sales or trade-related fields.
Its blessings include:
-
Sales Luck – Continuous activity around income and customer flow.
-
Wealth Movement – Helps maintain liquidity and steady cash turnover.
-
Protective Service – Guards the home or shop space from financial misfortune.
-
Merit Linkage – The liberated spirit’s energy creates karmic support for benevolent deeds, allowing wealth to grow through moral use.
Modern Application
This piece is most suitable for sales professionals, traders, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who rely on active turnover. Because this Guman cannot remain idle, it works best with those engaged daily in commercial or client-facing work. Offerings of milk, sweets, or fruits can help maintain its cheerful disposition.
Originally, Por Sala Tan offered the piece to the boy’s parents, but they declined out of grief, unable to bear daily remembrance. The Guman was then entrusted to the cement factory owner, a long-time supporter of Por Sala Tan, where it remained a protector and wealth attractor.
Physical Details
Carved from the preserved firewood of the original site, the piece exhibits a deep natural patina, its form compact and deliberate, with traces of the original grain visible beneath the lacquer. Measuring about 1 inch, it is housed in hand-engraved silver casing for protection and dignity.
Recommended Pairing
This liberated Guman pairs best with Buddha images such as Somdej or Prah Kring, and with Lersi images that guide and supervise spirit energies. The meditative stability of such pairings ensures the Guman’s drive remains constructive, directing its efforts toward prosperity and moral alignment.
