This rare and venerable Phaya Purisat image, crafted by Por Sala Tan, carries immense weight in both Thai and Burmese spiritual traditions. It depicts the sacred guardian who serves under the command of Tao Wessuwan, the celestial ruler of all spirits and demons. Phaya Purisat’s duty is to enforce divine order — consuming disobedient or rebellious spirits who refuse to heed celestial command. Within this cosmology, he is both executioner and protector, maintaining balance between the seen and unseen worlds.

Historical Background

This particular piece has remained within Por Sala Tan’s family for over three to four generations, estimated to be more than a hundred years old. Traditionally, it was used by his family when venturing deep into the forests and mountains to collect herbs and firewood. In those areas, where wild spirits and elemental beings dwell, Phaya Purisat’s presence ensured that no malevolent entity dared approach. The lineage of its preservation reflects the old belief that such objects are not merely protective charms but living vessels of deva power — conduits of unseen authority that command respect from all lower beings.

Blessings and Effects

Phaya Purisat is renowned for his Maha Amnaj (commanding authority) and Taba-Dej (spiritual power). His influence subdues disturbances from wandering spirits, black magic, or psychic attacks. In ancient practice, his invocation was used to banish evil entities from forests and homes. In modern times, his energy functions similarly in the urban world — warding off betrayal, deceit, and hidden ill intent from those who may smile in front but strike behind.

This makes him a highly sought-after guardian among business owners, leaders, and individuals navigating competitive environments. His aura of divine authority brings control, respect, and safety in situations where unseen jealousy or backstabbing might otherwise prevail.

Materials

This piece is carved from nga chang graden — a sacred substance of immense potency associated with strength, durability, and celestial authority. The essence of a deva baramee (deity’s merit energy) resides within, giving the piece both spiritual weight and enduring vitality. Every curve and engraving carries deliberate symbolism, channeling the energy of a higher-order guardian rather than a lower wandering spirit.

Usage in Modern Life

In the contemporary context, Phaya Purisat functions as a higher level of Wa Tanoo — similar in spiritual purpose but far superior in rank and potency. The two can be worn together, harmonizing protective layers: Wa Tanoo serving as the earthly defender, and Phaya Purisat as the celestial enforcer. Due to the long and complex consecration required (often months rather than days), few such pieces were ever completed, making this relic both rare and sacred.

Those who wear it report a strong aura of command, calm dominance in negotiations, and remarkable resistance to spiritual interference. It is particularly beneficial for those who lead teams, manage sensitive relationships, or move through environments filled with unseen competition and envy.
