This Phra Pidta is formed from the relics of a holy man who had entered samadhi deep within a cave, passing away in seclusion where his body remained undisturbed for years. When Por Sala Tan visited such remote meditation sites, as was his habit during his journeys across the north, he would occasionally come across the remains of these ascetics. This particular relic—believed to be from the hip bone—was carefully retrieved and later sanctified into a Pidta form, uniting human relic with the power of wiccha.
Por Sala Tan practiced the Pidta wiccha, a tradition emphasizing withdrawal from worldly distractions and deep inner concentration. By consecrating relic material into this form, he transferred not only his meditative force but also the accumulated spiritual weight of the departed holy man. The soil of the cave where the relic was found was pressed and layered beneath, grounding the amulet in the very place where long years of practice had once been carried out. This combination of bone and cave soil represents both the impermanence of the body and the endurance of dhamma practice.
Blessings and Effects
The blessings of this Phra Pidta align with the classical powers of Pidta wiccha but are intensified by the use of relic material:
-
Concealment and Protection – The closed eyes of Pidta signify withdrawal from danger, shielding the bearer from harm, malice, and hostile attention.
-
Authority of Relics – Holymen relics, particularly from accomplished ascetics, carry heavy baramee (spiritual weight). Their integration ensures that the amulet radiates not only protection but also authority and respect in the eyes of others.
-
Wealth and Fortune – Pidta wiccha is known to draw resources and open channels of opportunity. The cave-soil base adds a grounding effect, ensuring stability of wealth and blessings that are not fleeting.
-
Meditative Clarity – For practitioners, carrying such a piece supports concentration, shielding the mind from restlessness and distraction. It serves as a silent reminder of the ascetic’s life of renunciation.
Usage in Modern Life
For the modern devotee, this Pidta relic functions as both a shield and a source of sustenance:
-
In business, it helps ward off dishonest dealings and ensures smoother negotiations, as opponents lose the will to deceive.
-
In travel, it acts as a cloak, hiding the bearer from misfortune and unexpected calamities.
-
In personal practice, it strengthens inner focus, making meditation deeper and more stable, while also calming environments prone to negativity or conflict.
Carrying this amulet is akin to carrying both the blessing of Por Sala Tan and the presence of an unnamed but accomplished ascetic whose life was spent in caves and meditation. It is a convergence of two lifetimes of practice—Por Sala Tan’s transmission and the ascetic’s attainment—sealed in the form of Phra Pidta.
