Forest Jinn Talisman – Por Sala Tan
This piece originates from Por Sala Tan’s work with a forest jinn encountered during his practice in remote areas. Known for their volatile and forceful energy, such jinn are difficult to stabilize. Por Sala Tan chose to infuse its essence into gaduk chang kraden, a powerful grounding material traditionally used to bind and hold unstable forces.
The front depicts a Piyush image, a deliberate choice by Por Sala Tan. Piyush is a liberating form, used to subdue and guide entities, allowing their energy to be harnessed for benefit rather than disruption. This dual structure—jinn essence within, Piyush image outside—creates a balance between raw force and controlled liberation.
On the reverse, the base was filled with tid jai materials (heart-calming substances), an essential part of stabilizing the energy further. These inclusions were designed to ensure that the piece not only carried great potency but also projected harmony when kept close.
A set of takruts were inserted in rows across the back. Each was inscribed and chanted for harmonization, ensuring the wild essence of the forest jinn merged seamlessly with the stabilizing properties of the relics and the protective form of Piyush. Together, they act as conduits to direct the energy into blessings of protection, authority, and resilience against unseen obstacles.
This talisman stands as an example of Por Sala Tan’s method of transforming untamed and unstable forces into practical, controlled sources of baramee, capable of serving the owner rather than creating disorder.
