Baby Jinn Spirit – Por Sala Tan
This figure houses a baby jinn, known in Southeast Asia as a toyol. Unlike the typical household spirit that only carries minor charm, this entity was of much greater strength. Originally bound to serve a master by stealing wealth and valuables, its power proved unstable—it lacked the refinement to move money effectively. Eventually abandoned, it wandered the forest, creating disturbances for those who crossed its path.
Por Sala Tan encountered the spirit during deep meditation and saw its raw, forceful nature. Rather than banish it entirely, he recognized its potential to bring blessings if properly stabilized. To achieve this, he carved a figure in its likeness and infused the spirit into the material using gaduk chang kraden. This rare material provided the grounding necessary to hold such a volatile force.
The consecration was completed in a single intensive ceremony. With each round of chanting, Por Sala Tan tied the red binding cord, coating it in NMP oil to harmonize and anchor the jinn’s energy. The process liberated it from its wandering state and directed its strength toward serving as a vessel of seneh, wealth attraction, and protective force.
This piece is an example of Por Sala Tan’s ability to transform restless and dangerous spirits into guardians and helpers, using rare materials and direct ritual skill to create a controlled, potent amulet.
