This amulet embodies the tiger spirit (Suea), one of the most formidable guardians in Southeast Asian spiritual traditions. The tiger represents raw strength, fearlessness, invulnerability, and dominance over enemies. In Lanna and Khmer occult practice, the tiger is revered as a spiritual brother of shamans and monks, a creature that commands authority and wards off both human and non-human threats.

Historical Background

This tiger was crafted by Por Sala Tan, who took the rare step of constructing the form not from bone or wood, but by melting down and molding holy scrolls (takrut) into the full figure of a leaping tiger. The practice of fusing consecrated script into a physical form creates an amulet that is not only symbolic but also alive with the words and spells it embodies. The piece was further empowered through the embedding of a life-giving takrut, a ritual element used to animate and harmonize the tiger spirit, ensuring that it functions as a living force rather than a symbolic carving.

Materials

• Holy Takrut Scrolls: Originally inscribed with protective kata and yantra, then melted and molded into the body of the tiger, preserving the essence of their power.

• Life-Empowering Takrut: Inserted to ignite and stabilize the “spirit” within the tiger, harmonizing its energy with the wearer.

• Binding Cord: Sacred thread used to seal the form, symbolizing control and direction of the immense energy contained within.
