The image carved here is Prah Garuda in his victorious form, pressing down upon a skull that represents the subjugation of demonic and destructive forces. Garuda in Southeast Asian cosmology is not only Vishnu’s mount but also a supreme symbol of protection, strength, and the dispersal of black magic. In Thailand, Garuda (Phaya Krut) is the royal emblem itself, regarded as the ultimate guardian against all forms of spiritual harm.

Historical Background

This piece comes directly from the late master Por Sala Tan of Fang, whose creations are known for incorporating ancient ritual materials and difficult-to-obtain relics. The carving was carried out in his circle with Ac Lek, his son and close disciple, who recalled that either lersi relics or monk relics were used in its consecration, though the exact identity of the relic fragments is not fully recorded. What is certain is that they were holy relics, enshrined within the amulet to anchor sacred power.

Materials

The base material is gaduk chang kraden, a type of relic valued for its grounding energy and resilience. Into this were pressed additional muan sarn components:

  • Cave soil, collected from sacred meditation caves where masters practiced austerities.

  • Bailan ash, the ashes of old palm-leaf scriptures that once bore Buddhist texts, ritually burned and sanctified.

  • Holy relics of lersi or monks, embedded to provide spiritual weight.

  • Twin takrut inserted into the back, acting as channels of protective force.

Each element ties the piece back to lineage practices of Northern Thai and Lanna wicha, where relics, scriptures, and natural substances are harmonized to create maximum potency.

Blessings and Effects

This Garuda talisman carries several overlapping layers of blessing:

  • Supreme Protection: Wards off black magic, curses, and malevolent spirits.

  • Victory over Adversity: Symbolized by Garuda crushing the skull, it empowers the bearer to overcome enemies, obstacles, and personal struggles.

  • Authority & Prestige: Garuda is a royal symbol; wearing him is said to project charisma, leadership, and command.

  • Spiritual Grounding: The combination of relics, cave soil, and bailan ash creates stability of mind and a strong energetic shield around the owner.

  • Relic Energy: The inclusion of relics means the piece carries accumulated baramee (spiritual merit), enhancing meditation and karmic strength.

Usage in Modern Life

For a practitioner today, this amulet functions as a fortress of protection in both the spiritual and worldly sense. It is well suited for those who face opposition—whether in business, legal affairs, or personal environments—and for those seeking to anchor themselves in clarity and authority. It also serves as a safeguard for travelers, business owners, and spiritual practitioners alike, ensuring that negative influences cannot easily penetrate.
