Por Sala Tan

During a period of meditation and retreat, Por Sala Tan entered a little-known cave temple in Chiang Rai—Wat Tham Payanak, also known by locals as Wat Tam Sao Hin. This remote sanctuary, hidden amidst dense forest and limestone cliffs, has long been associated with the mystical presence of Nagas (Payanak) and other elemental forces. Por Sala Tan had no prior knowledge that a major ritual gathering of Lersi hermits and spiritual masters was to be held there the next day.

Upon arriving and settling in the rear chamber of the cave, Por Sala Tan reported a profound and unusual energy. Initially mistaking the vibration as one stemming from jinns or wandering spirits, he mentioned it aloud to the younger Arjans nearby. At his prompting, they explored the inner chamber, eventually uncovering a stash of ancient stone amulets—intricately carved and estimated to be between 200–300 years old. These pieces were hewn directly from the natural stone within the sacred cave walls, likely by hermits or forest monks of earlier centuries.

This discovery took place on the eve of a major spiritual ceremony. The next day, as many holy men and lersi gathered, the amulets were collectively blessed and recharged in ritual, alongside the ceremonial items. Each master present was given a small number of the pieces to continue their spiritual journey with. Por Sala Tan brought back a portion of these to Fang, keeping them immersed in his personal holy water jar at home—a vessel used only for sacred empowerment and charging.
