This first-batch Hoon Payoon from Por Sala Tan is made using prai relic materials from combat soldiers who lost their lives in the decades-long civil and border conflicts in Myanmar.
A group of soldiers was killed in a landmine operation, their bodies left without last rites and their spirits unable to move on. Por Sala Tan personally performed the final rites for them, cremating their remains and transforming part of their ashes (pong prai gaduk) into the material for the heads of these guardians.
The “heart” of each figure contains tidjai relics from the soldiers, acting as the spiritual core that animates and empowers the Hoon Payoon. This early batch was originally acquired in full by a Hong Kong dealer; these examples come from his old stock, recently retrieved and wrapped.
In wiccha, pong prai gaduk—especially from those who died violently—is considered highly potent for Hoon Payoon because it binds a protective presence capable of acting as a body double for the owner.
This means harm, danger, or spiritual attack intended for the owner can be diverted to the Hoon Payoon instead. Beyond spiritual shielding, it is valued for turning away backstabbers, neutralising hidden enemies, and maintaining a commanding presence in one’s environment.
