Por Sala Tan was not only known for his relic-based wicha but also for his mastery of tiger effigies—a crucial form in Tai Yai animism. In the spiritual and physical jungles of Southeast Asia, the tiger is seen as the apex protector, both feared and respected. Its essence is believed to traverse between worlds, warding off both danger and spiritual attacks.

This particular piece is from the Roaring Tiger Batch, carved from old suer relics passed down by earlier Lersis and Arjans. The aged patina and deep groove lines are telltale signs of authentic relic ivory or bone, seasoned over decades. It is seated in a coiled, low-prowl posture—symbolizing alertness and preemptive defense.

Modern Applications

Although originally forged to guard jungle-dwellers from physical threats such as bandits, spirits, and wild animals, the Roaring Tiger now serves as a spiritual buffer for the modern world. In today’s urban environments, its energy fortifies the wearer against more subtle but equally draining dangers—mental strain, emotional manipulation, and energetic pollution.

For those in high-pressure careers such as sales, trading, or legal work, the tiger instills a mental resilience that keeps one sharp and composed under pressure. In environments where politics and betrayal are common, it provides protection against slander and backstabbing, preserving one's name and influence.

Its presence amplifies personal authority, making it ideal for those who regularly engage in negotiations, public speaking, or leadership roles. Even in crowded cities or spiritually chaotic places like hospitals, courtrooms, or public transport, the tiger offers energetic shielding—keeping one's aura sealed and untangled.

For caregivers, empaths, or anyone in emotionally taxing roles, the tiger acts as an emotional firewall—allowing them to give without being drained.
