Por Sala Tan – Northern Thai Baramee & Metta Tarkrut Necklace
This rare necklace is a true representation of the Northern Thai wicha tradition, crafted under the lineage of Por Sala Tan of Fang, Chiang Mai Province—not from the South as often misunderstood. Known for his mastery in sacred inscriptions and meditative blessings, Por Sala Tan devoted decades to building methods that quietly worked to expand one's baramee (spiritual authority) and metta (loving-kindness).
🔗 Structure and Materials
The necklace is constructed from alternating sections of metallic tarkrut and traditional wood beads, finished with a red silk tassel. Each silver-colored rod is a tarkrut, hand-etched with baramee or metta inscriptions. Due to the demanding nature of this work—only two tarkrut could be written per day—these pieces were never mass-produced and often took weeks to complete.
💬 Function and Use
This specific piece was kept unworn by Ac Lek, Por Sala Tan’s direct student (and son), and is in preserved condition. It’s typically worn during meditation or personal retreat—though many also wear it while resting, reading, or even relaxing at home, allowing the energy of the inscriptions to gently align their state of mind.
💠 Educational Note
Among Por Sala Tan’s closest followers, a more common version with only two tarkrut was often given, known informally as tarkrut metta yin rak (tarkrut of attraction and gentle charm). Many of these wearers report unexpectedly finding themselves in the right place at the right time—connecting with the right people for love, partnerships, or crucial career openings. This "magnetism" is not coincidental—it is a trait carefully infused into the object through focused meditative transfer and symbolic mantra.
