Wa Tanoo Chanting Bracelet by Por Sala Tan — Made with Som Poi Seeds and Bailan, Double-Blessed in Myanmar and Fang

This Wa Tanoo bracelet, made under the supervision of Por Sala Tan, stands out as one of the most powerful protective pieces in his catalogue. Crafted in limited quantities, it features a combination of Som Poi seeds and burnt Bailan palm-leaf scripture — both considered highly auspicious materials in Southeast Asian spiritual practice.

Sacred Materials: Som Poi & Burnt Bailan

  • Som Poi seeds, also known as “water-blessing seeds”, are naturally buoyant and are often used in traditional Burmese and Northern Thai charms for protection, reversal of black magic, and floatation against misfortune. The seeds are ritually washed and dried before use, believed to carry qualities of resilience, survival, and adaptability.

  • Bailan, or ancient palm-leaf scrolls used in temple scriptures, are traditionally inscribed with Buddhist teachings or yantras. In this bracelet, burnt Bailan represents transmutation of wisdom into active protection. The burning process is symbolic — converting written knowledge into energetic defense.

These materials are dried slowly over a charcoal grill, one by one — a meticulous process that ensures proper curing without damaging spiritual integrity. Each batch requires weeks of effort and can produce only 20 to 30 bracelets. On average, fewer than five batches are made per year, making this bracelet extremely scarce among Por Sala Tan’s works.

Spiritual Empowerment: Dual-Blessing Ceremony

This Wa Tanoo bracelet was first consecrated in Tachilek, Myanmar, a region known for its enduring animist and Lanna-Burmese crossover rituals. It was then brought back and re-chanted in Fang, Thailand, in one of Por Sala Tan’s mountain blessing cycles. This dual-location empowerment aligns it with cross-border protective systems — a blend of Burmese and Northern Thai spiritual lineages.

Such layered blessings are believed to:

  • Enhance overall spiritual protection from unseen forces

  • Sharpen the wearer’s intuition and defense against spiritual attacks

  • Strengthen the bracelet’s ability to repel envy, sorcery, or bad intentions

Role of Kruba Pantita

This bracelet is named in honor of the late Kruba Pantita, a revered Burmese-Lanna spiritual figure known for his deep meditative attainments and strict observance of traditional ritual. His influence over the chanting lineage adds another layer of baramee (spiritual prestige) and ritual credibility to the piece.

Collector's Note

Only 2 pieces of this particular style have ever passed through my hands. Due to the complexity of the preparation, the rarity of genuine Bailan and Som Poi, and the travel required for proper dual-site blessings, this is a difficult piece to produce in quantity.

It is not mass-market — best suited for those who:

  • Face frequent spiritual exposure (e.g., energy workers, business owners, frontline roles)

  • Require silent protection without overt display

  • Value both traditional ritual fidelity and cross-cultural spiritual potency
