During a sourcing trip to Burma, Por Sala Tan journeyed to the sacred grounds near Mount Popa — a region long known to be the spiritual home of the Nats, Burmese guardian spirits, and revered hermits such as Bo Bo Aung. The mountain and its surrounding forest have deep connections to animist belief, Buddhist hermit practice, and are also considered by some to be the earthly realm of an avatar of Lord Indra — the legendary Si Hu Ha Taa (the Four-Ear, Five-Eye monkey), a powerful spirit believed to bring wealth and fortune.
Por Sala Tan was not there for ceremony but for practical spiritual work: collecting herbs and natural relics found only in this region — some used for seneh, others for protection, and others still for taming or anchoring wandering entities. These forest materials are rare and often guarded by nature spirits or bound to specific energies. While the average person may walk through such areas unaware, those with meditative cultivation sometimes report visions of spiritual beings. Occasionally, even laypeople foraging in the forest have claimed to encounter strange figures — often dismissed as folklore.
But what happened to Por Sala Tan that day was unexpected even for someone of his level. While not in a meditative state, a Si Hu Ha Taa spirit appeared before him. He was stunned. Although he had heard of such beings appearing to seasoned hermits during meditation, he did not expect a direct encounter. The being appeared only briefly — it lay down, then vanished. What remained was a palm-shaped relic, imprinted into the earth as though intentionally left.
Por Sala Tan picked it up, unsure what to do next. Not long after, he crossed paths with a Lersi who was also meditating on the same mountain. Recognizing the sacred nature of the encounter, the Lersi assisted in a preliminary consecration, ensuring the relic was safe to bring back and anchor energetically for transfer to a human keeper. It was agreed that this relic was not for public release — but meant for someone truly in need of financial transformation.
For years, the relic remained with a villager in Por Sala Tan’s community, kept quietly and respectfully. On one of my recent sourcing visits, my fixer connected me to this individual. The relic had been kept in simple cloth wrapping, untouched since. I acquired it personally, brought it back, and arranged for it to be reblessed by Arjan Lek, Por Sala Tan’s son, before having it wrapped and protected for long-term wearing or altar placement.
