This Malangphu Yai is made from red wood and carved in the form of a carpenter bee, following an old Lanna-style wiccha that traces back to the time of Bobo Aung. Traditionally, this type of wiccha was only used by royalty and noble families, and it wasn’t something made for the public.

The carving was done by a master craftsman from the village — someone who was well known for making sacred items for top Krubas and Arjans in the region. He has since passed away, and pieces like this are no longer being made in the same way.

Por Sala Tan had this one done with a small palod inserted inside — it’s meant to help with wealth attraction and to convert negative energy into positive outcomes. Not overly showy, but effective. The kind of piece you carry quietly, let it do its work.
