Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Among Por Sala Tan's older luksits, this was remembered as a particularly important yantra for Baramee.

Practitioners requested it when working with numerous sacred or spirit-oriented artifacts, believing that their own spiritual authority first had to remain strong enough to maintain balance around what they kept.

Lay luksits also sought the yantra for a more practical expression of Baramee.

According to accounts passed down around these pieces, village chiefs, local officials and members of the police and military were among those who requested it. They associated it with stronger presence, authority, health, prosperity and the ability to carry responsibility without being overwhelmed by pressure.

The addition of old Lersi relics gives this particular example another dimension. For practitioners, the Lersi represents accumulated knowledge, discipline and the authority of the teacher. Combined with the solar and planetary formulas, it made this version especially meaningful to those involved in spiritual practice.

Yant 9 Phaen Din Suriyan Jantri is one of the more complex early yantras associated with Por Sala Tan.

Its structure combines the nine planetary forces, Jantra — the Moon, and Suriyan — the Sun into a single cosmological arrangement.

The nine planetary influences are traditionally connected within this lineage with the symbolism of nine vessels of wealth, representing abundance and different channels through which fortune may arise.

The lunar component concerns Saneh, attraction, Yin influence and secondary channels of wealth, while the solar component represents Baramee, authority, vitality and continuous power.

This particular example adds Phong Wan Roi Paet and old Lersi relics at its centre, bringing themes of abundance, spiritual knowledge and practitioner authority directly into the celestial system.

Por Sala Tan is said to have discontinued this yantra around B.E. 2515, as the precise handwritten proportions became increasingly demanding on his eyesight.

Historical Background

Astrological yantras are among the more technically demanding forms within older Thai and regional esoteric practice.

Rather than depending upon one sacred image, their structure combines planetary correspondences, numerical arrangements, sacred characters, geometrical relationships and mantra.

In Por Sala Tan's explanation of this particular form, 9 Phaen Din — Nine Lands — corresponds with nine planetary powers.

Eight subsidiary planetary yantras surround the principal central arrangement, with Jupiter occupying the dominant central position according to the lineage explanation.

These planetary forces are then placed within the greater relationship between Suriyan and Jantra — Sun and Moon.

The result is a yantra concerned not with a single blessing, but with the broader relationship between fortune, attraction, authority, vitality and spiritual balance.

Origins of the Materials

The old lead is an important part of this piece.

Rather than using newly purchased sheet metal, Por Sala Tan's material was said to include lead donated by followers and older lead connected with sacred artifacts, temples and sacred sites. These materials were melted together before being formed into the base for inscription.

At the centre of this example is Phong Wan Roi Paet — ผงว่านร้อยแปด — the traditional “108 sacred herbs” preparation.

The number 108 carries the idea of completeness and abundance. Within this artifact, the herbal compound provides a material expression of growth, prosperity, support and the gathering together of many auspicious qualities.

Embedded within the herbal material are also old Lersi relic fragments.

Within the lineage, these relics contribute the qualities traditionally associated with the Lersi: knowledge, mastery of wicha, discipline, guidance and spiritual authority.

The centre therefore becomes more than a filling. It forms the physical heart of the yantra, bringing together sacred herbs and Lersi lineage material within the surrounding planetary system.

Ritual

The consecration of Yant 9 Phaen Din Suriyan Jantri was not completed in a single ceremony.

According to Por Sala Tan's lineage account, these yantras were worked with for more than one year, with further chanting and ritual preparation undertaken during different solar and lunar events.

This prolonged process corresponded directly with the structure of the yantra.

Jantra — the lunar force was associated with Yin energy, Saneh, attraction and subtler channels of fortune.

Suriyan — the solar force represented Baramee, vitality and authority. Within the lineage it was understood as a continuously radiating source of power — the Sun continuing to provide light and heat regardless of changing human circumstances.

The reverse incorporated formulas connected with four major eclipse configurations, while the outer solar yantra completed the Suriyan aspect.

For this particular example, the prepared 108-herb compound and Lersi relics were placed at the centre before the system was completed and sealed, physically locating the sacred materials within the celestial arrangement.

Blessings and Effects

The principal quality traditionally attributed to this yantra is Baramee — personal and spiritual authority.

For practitioners, Baramee was considered particularly important when maintaining collections containing Yin, spirit-based or heavier Barang artifacts. Rather than simply adding further Yin influence, the Suriyan aspect was intended to strengthen the practitioner and provide a stable counterbalance.

For lay devotees, Baramee takes a more everyday form: leadership, confidence, respect, recognition and the ability to carry responsibility.

The lunar and planetary elements broaden this towards Metta, Saneh, Choke Lap and wealth. The intention is not merely money appearing suddenly, but greater movement around opportunity — favourable contacts, additional sources of income, smoother dealings and circumstances becoming more supportive.

The Phong Wan Roi Paet reinforces abundance and completeness, while the Lersi relics add the traditional qualities of knowledge, guidance and disciplined spiritual practice.

Taken together, the artifact is traditionally associated with Baramee, health, wealth, attraction, opportunity, spiritual balance and sustained personal strength.

Modern Application

For someone already keeping many spirit-oriented or Yin-based artifacts, this is one of the more interesting Por Sala Tan pieces to place at the centre of a collection.

Its purpose is different from simply adding another spirit artifact. The emphasis is upon strengthening Baramee and maintaining balance around the practitioner.

For lay use, it is particularly suited to people carrying responsibility — business owners, managers, senior staff and those whose work depends upon leadership, negotiation and the confidence of others.

The addition of the old Lersi relics also makes this version especially meaningful for practitioners, teachers and students of traditional wicha.

Physical Details

This is an early B.E. 250x circular lead yantra, individually hand-inscribed by Por Sala Tan with concentric sacred formulas, planetary divisions, numerical arrangements and surrounding Khom characters.

Unlike the plain example, the centre has been filled with a dark preparation of Phong Wan Roi Paet, within which visible fragments of old Lersi relics have been embedded. The contrast between the aged grey lead, dark herbal compound and pale relic fragments gives the piece a particularly distinctive appearance.

The surface retains natural oxidation and irregularities expected from old prepared lead, while the fine handwritten inscriptions vary subtly in depth and spacing. The piece is presently protected within a custom silver casing while leaving the central sacred materials visible.

Recommended Pairing

This is already a highly complete yantra and does not require complicated pairing.

For practitioners keeping numerous Yin or spirit-based artifacts, it can serve as the principal Baramee and balancing yantra within the collection.

If worn with another sacred object, a Buddha image, monk Roop Lor or Lersi artifact is the most natural complement. A Lersi pairing is particularly appropriate for this version because of the old Lersi relics embedded within its centre.

For ordinary use, however, I would keep the arrangement simple. The planetary, solar, lunar, herbal and Lersi components already give this artifact a very broad traditional purpose.

Personal Notes

I find this example considerably more interesting than the plain version because Por Sala Tan added physical sacred materials directly into the centre of an already complicated celestial yantra.

The Phong Wan Roi Paet represents 108 sacred herbs and the principle of abundance and completeness, while the old Lersi relics connect the piece with knowledge, wicha and the authority of the practitioner.

These materials sit within a yantra that Por Sala Tan was already said to have consecrated progressively for more than a year through different solar and lunar events.

He eventually stopped producing this form around B.E. 2515, as its fine inscriptions and strict proportions demanded eyesight precise enough to execute the complete system correctly.

For me, this is therefore not simply an old lead yantra.

It brings together Por Sala Tan's early handwriting, old sacred lead, planetary wicha, Suriyan and Jantra, 108 sacred herbs and old Lersi relics within a single artifact.

Pieces from this period are rarely encountered, and examples retaining this additional central preparation are particularly meaningful within a serious Por Sala Tan collection.
