Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Among fellow practitioners and Por Sala Tan's luksits, unusual Lersi Serming Pai artifacts made from rare natural materials were often pieces that owners preferred to keep.

They were particularly valued for periods when life seemed to have become stagnant — business was not progressing, opportunities repeatedly disappeared, or considerable effort produced little movement.

Feedback surrounding this type of Lersi commonly centres upon obstacles becoming easier to work around and new routes appearing where the original route had failed. For business users, this might be a new enquiry, introduction, customer or opportunity arriving at an appropriate time.

Others associated the Lersi with increased baramee. They felt more composed when dealing with difficult people, more confident when making decisions, and more readily respected when presenting themselves professionally.

Historical Background

Por Sala Tan obtained the rare bear relics during a journey into Myanmar to attend a ceremony.

During this journey, he encountered a Lersi who practised Lersi Serming Pai wicha. The two spent time exchanging knowledge and discussing their respective practices.

Their meeting developed through mutual respect. Before they parted, the Lersi presented Por Sala Tan with several rare relics as a gesture of goodwill following their exchange of wicha.

Among those materials were bear relics, including Keow Mii.

Their provenance was especially meaningful to Por Sala Tan. Rather than being ordinary materials obtained specifically for amulet production, they came directly from another practitioner with whom he had personally exchanged knowledge.

This naturally limited the number of artifacts that could ever be prepared from them.

Origins of the Materials

The foundation is Keow Mii — bear tooth, while the Lersi figure itself was carved from Graduk Mii — bear bone.

Within traditional symbolism, the bear represents strength, courage, endurance and the ability to defend its ground. These qualities fit naturally with Poet Thang: when a road becomes difficult, the intention is not merely to wait for luck but to have the persistence required to find another way forward.

The Lersi adds a different quality. In Thai sacred and occult traditions, Lersi are associated with knowledge, teachers, spiritual disciplines, protection and mastery of specialised wicha.

Combining the two creates a clear symbolic relationship:

the Lersi knows the way; the bear provides the strength to travel it.

Ritual

Por Sala Tan used the natural Keow Mii as the main body of the artifact.

A figure of Lersi Serming Pai was carved separately from Graduk Mii and positioned above the tooth, giving the impression of the Lersi standing over and directing the natural relic.

The cavity within the Keow Mii was filled with Phong Wan Roi Paet (ผงว่านร้อยแปด) — 108-herb powder. The precise herbal composition follows the preparation used by the maker; traditionally, the number 108 represents completeness and a broad gathering of sacred qualities.

The cavity was then sealed with traditional Burmese wax.

Sai Sin was tied around the Lersi, while a luck takrut was incorporated to direct the completed artifact towards favourable circumstances, opportunity and the opening of blocked paths.

Blessings and Effects

The principal traditional quality is Poet Thang — opening the way.

This concerns overcoming stagnation, finding alternatives when plans become blocked and encountering opportunities that allow progress to resume.

The Lersi component adds baramee, guidance and authority. It is traditionally associated with being taken seriously, maintaining composure and gaining greater respect from those around the wearer.

The bear relics contribute courage and resilience, particularly when facing competition, pressure or prolonged obstacles.

For livelihood, these qualities extend naturally towards business opportunities, negotiations, customer relationships and financial movement.

The artifact therefore combines five closely related intentions: opening roads, luck, baramee, business progress and protection.

The artifact is constructed upon a naturally curved Keow Mii, retaining the original colour, texture and form of the tooth.

Above it sits Lersi Serming Pai, individually carved from Graduk Mii. The interior of the tooth contains Phong Wan Roi Paet, sealed beneath traditional Burmese wax.

The Lersi is tied with Sai Sin, while a luck takrut is incorporated into the construction to reinforce the road-opening and opportunity intention.

The combination of two separate bear relics within a single handmade artifact makes this a particularly distinctive example of Por Sala Tan's individual craftsmanship.

Personal Notes

Pieces such as this explain why many long-standing luksits held tightly to Por Sala Tan's unusual Lersi artifacts.

The materials themselves were difficult to replace. The Keow Mii and other rare relics came through Por Sala Tan's personal encounter with the Lersi in Myanmar, following their exchange of Serming Pai wicha and knowledge.

Only a small amount of material was available, meaning very few artifacts of this nature could be completed. They were therefore more commonly encountered among direct or close luksits than through ordinary circulation.

I eventually came across this piece through one of those luksits.

What I particularly appreciate is the simplicity of its traditional message. The Lersi provides the wisdom to recognise another road, while the bear provides the strength to keep moving until that road opens.
