Mae Per

Por Sala Tan
1.5 Inches
Barang Artifact

Individual Craftsmanship

As these pieces were individually prepared, differences in casting, Tid Jai coating, Sai Sin and finishing naturally give each Mae Per its own character.

Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Among luksits, Mae Per has developed a particularly strong reputation for combining wealth attraction with Saneh.

Owners have spoken of periods when business began moving more smoothly, customers became easier to approach, new opportunities appeared or money arrived through circumstances they had not originally anticipated.

Others describe the effect more through people. They felt more noticeable, found conversations easier to begin and experienced greater goodwill from customers, colleagues or people they were trying to establish relationships with.

For business owners in particular, these two qualities naturally complement one another. Attraction brings people closer; metta helps the relationship develop; wealth wicha is then directed towards turning those opportunities into practical results.

Some luksits have consequently described Mae Per as a particularly significant or even life-changing artifact in their personal experience.

Summary

This is a powerful old-style Mae Per by Por Sala Tan, created from melted coffin nails mixed with brass.

Its construction combines the cast metal figure with Tid Jai, Sai Sin and a takrut, bringing together several important elements of Por Sala Tan's Barang practice.

Mae Per is principally associated with wealth fetching, Saneh, metta and favourable opportunities, together with a protective aspect traditionally attributed to the materials and ritual preparation.

It is especially relevant for those whose livelihood depends upon customers, relationships, negotiation and the movement of money.

Historical Background

Mae Per belongs to the spirit-associated side of Thai and regional Barang practice, where the figure is traditionally worked with for attraction, assistance and favourable movement of fortune.

Such practices do not exist as one standardised tradition. Different masters may prepare Mae Per according to their own wicha, using different forms, materials and ritual methods.

Within Por Sala Tan's practice, particular importance is placed upon the materials incorporated into the artifact. Metals, relic substances, sacred threads and takruts are deliberately brought together according to the intended purpose.

This example reflects that approach clearly. Its physical body is itself formed from ritual material rather than ordinary brass alone.

Origins of the Materials

One of the defining characteristics of this Mae Per is its unusual metal composition.

Old coffin nails were melted together with brass before being cast into the figure. Within traditional Barang practice, old materials associated with funerary rites may be retained and ritually transformed for a new spiritual purpose.

The figure was then coated with Tid Jai, or heart relic material. Within Por Sala Tan's tradition, Tid Jai is regarded as carrying an especially concentrated spirit association and is therefore used selectively in stronger Barang preparations.

Sai Sin and a takrut complete the construction, helping to bind together and direct the intended qualities of the piece.

Ritual

Por Sala Tan prepared the metal mixture and chanted mantras during the casting process, integrating ritual preparation into the creation of the Mae Per itself.

After casting, Tid Jai was applied to the figure. Sai Sin was then bound around the Mae Per, while the takrut was incorporated as an additional ritual component.

The intention was to bring the different materials under one preparation, directing their traditional qualities towards metta, Saneh, wealth and assistance rather than leaving them as unrelated components.

Blessings and Effects

The strongest traditional association of this Mae Per is the combination of wealth fetching and Saneh.

For business, this is understood as attracting customers, encouraging favourable dealings and helping opportunities develop into income.

Its Metta and Saneh qualities concern charisma, attraction and being received favourably. These qualities may be sought not only for relationships, but also for sales, networking, negotiations and occupations where personal interaction matters.

Mae Per is also traditionally associated with protection, particularly against unfavourable influences that may obstruct the wearer or their livelihood.

The overall purpose is therefore broad but practical: draw people, create goodwill, open opportunities and encourage the movement of fortune.

Modern Application

Mae Per is particularly suitable for business owners, salespeople and those involved in networking or client-facing work.

Someone operating a shop may keep it for customer attraction and smoother business. Those working in sales or commission-based occupations may value its traditional association with charisma, opportunity and favourable decisions.

For collectors, it is also a distinctive example of Por Sala Tan's material-based work, particularly because coffin nails form part of the actual cast body rather than merely being inserted into the finished artifact.

Recommended Pairing

Mae Per may be carried alone when the principal purpose is wealth, attraction and favourable dealings with people.

For business use, it pairs naturally with an artifact focused on wealth retention or protection, creating a complementary arrangement: Mae Per traditionally draws people and opportunities towards the owner, while the accompanying piece supports stability and preservation of what has been gained.
