Summary

This One-Eyed Coconut Shell Talisman was created by Phra Ajarn Kritsada Khantiko of Wat Pong Sanuk Nuea, Lampang, following a traditional Lanna ritual lineage transmitted through Phra Anochai Thammajinda Muni, the Royal Preceptor of Lakhon and the first ecclesiastical head of Lampang Province. The lineage was later passed to Kruba Nanta Nanto of Wat Thung Man Tai and preserved through successive generations of Northern Thai masters.

Only 39 pairs were produced. Due to the ritual requirements and astrological timing involved in the creation process, devotees reportedly waited nearly two years before this series became available.

For many collectors, this issue represents both a rare ritual object and a connection to one of the most dedicated ritual masters of modern Lampang.

Historical Background

Phra Ajarn Kritsada became widely known among devotees of Northern Thai sacred arts for his dedication to preserving traditional Lanna methods of amulet making, sacred inscriptions, ritual empowerment, and spiritual instruction.

Although I visited Wat Pong Sanuk Nuea in the past and had friends who were close disciples of the Ajarn, I never had the opportunity to meet him personally. He also visited Singapore on one occasion, but our paths never crossed. It remains one of the missed opportunities that many collectors reflect upon today following his recent passing.

Among disciples, he was often described as a master completely devoted to his wicha. In Thailand, collectors sometimes affectionately refer to such masters as "Baa Wicha" — individuals whose lives revolve entirely around the preservation, practice, and transmission of sacred knowledge. Their daily routines, rituals, and teachings become inseparable from the spiritual traditions they uphold.

His passing in 2026 marked the end of an important chapter in contemporary Lanna amulet culture, yet his teachings and creations continue to be studied by devotees throughout Thailand and abroad.

Origins of Materials

The One-Eyed Coconut Shell Talisman follows ancient ritual manuals associated with the lineage of Phra Anochai Thammajinda Muni. The materials were selected and prepared according to traditional requirements before undergoing ritual empowerment.

The term "One-Eyed Coconut Shell" refers to a naturally occurring coconut shell formation long regarded in Thai folk traditions as possessing special ritual significance. Such materials are uncommon and traditionally require careful selection before they can be incorporated into ceremonial work.

The final pieces were individually prepared according to the traditional formula maintained within the lineage.

Ritual

The creation of this series followed strict ritual procedures preserved within the Lanna tradition.

According to disciples, the timing of the creation could not be chosen arbitrarily. Specific astrological periods associated with Rahu were observed, and both the preparation of materials and empowerment ceremonies had to be conducted during prescribed windows of time.

Because of these requirements, the process extended over a period of approximately two years before the talismans were finally completed and released.

Only 39 pairs were ultimately produced.

Following the Ajarn's passing, interest in documenting his teachings, preserving his ritual methods, and studying his creations has continued to grow among both older disciples and newer generations of collectors.

Some disciples have also shared personal experiences surrounding his final farewell ceremonies in June 2026. Within the community, stories circulated of disciples dreaming of the Ajarn shortly after his passing and feeling inspired to enter temporary monkhood to participate in funeral observances and pay their final respects. These accounts form part of the living oral traditions that continue to surround his legacy.
