Guman Thong – 102nd Birthday Batch

Luang Phor Yam • Wat Sam Ngam • BE 2560 (2017)

Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

After wearing this amulet, many who collect Guman Thong from Luang Phor Yam experienced improved business, increased customer traffic, smoother negotiations and unexpected financial opportunities. Some devotees also describe receiving timely intuition before important decisions, helping them recognise opportunities and avoid unfavourable situations.

Business owners traditionally keep Guman Thong close to their shops or workplaces, while pendant-sized examples are carried for wealth, customer attraction, protection and guidance.

Summary

Created in BE 2560 (2017), this Guman Thong belongs to Luang Phor Yam's special 102nd Birthday Batch, commemorating his remarkable 102nd year of life.

The edition continues the renowned Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage inherited from the legendary Luang Por Tae, whose Guman Thong Wicha established the temple as one of Thailand's most recognised centres for this sacred tradition.

This particular example has been individually painted in gold with a red-painted pedestal. Sacred white blessing powder remains visible upon the head, while the original red-and-white Sai Sin from the consecration ceremonyremains tied around the figure.

Traditionally associated with wealth, business prosperity, customer attraction, Metta, protection and intuitive guidance, it is a distinctive late-period Guman Thong from Luang Phor Yam.

Historical Background

Wat Sam Ngam in Nakhon Pathom became widely recognised through the Guman Thong Wicha of Luang Por Tae, whose sacred creations established a lineage that remains highly regarded among Thai devotees and collectors.

The tradition was subsequently preserved by Luang Phor Yam, who continued the established Wat Sam Ngam methods of preparing and consecrating Guman Thong.

By BE 2560, Luang Phor Yam had reached 102 years of age. The 102nd Birthday Batch was created to commemorate this exceptional milestone and his lifetime of preserving the Wat Sam Ngam lineage.

The edition therefore belongs to the final period of Luang Phor Yam's long life and spiritual practice, giving it particular historical significance among his commemorative sacred objects.

Sacred Materials & Ritual

The Guman Thong was formed from baking clay blended with traditional sacred materials associated with the Wat Sam Ngam formula.

The sacred mixture traditionally includes:

  • Holy soils collected from seven graveyards.
  • Sacred earth from seven piers or ports.
  • Materials gathered from other auspicious “seven places”.
  • Pong Prai Kumarn sacred powder.
  • Bone fragments.
  • Temple earth.
  • Sacred herbs and flower pollen.
  • Old sacred powders preserved through the Luang Por Tae lineage.
  • Baking clay forming the body of the figure.

After preparation, this example was individually finished with gold paint across the Guman Thong figure and rich red paint across the pedestal. Sacred white blessing powder was applied upon the head.

The figure also retains its red-and-white ceremonial Sai Sin. Within Thai ritual practice, Sai Sin is closely associated with blessing ceremonies and the transmission of prayers during consecration, preserving a visible connection to the sacred ceremony.

The sacred materials were carefully prepared before each figure was individually formed and finished by hand. Natural variations in the clay, gold and red painted surfaces, blessing powder and Sai Sin make every surviving example unique.

Consecration

The batch followed the traditional Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha transmitted through the lineage of Luang Por Tae and preserved by Luang Phor Yam.

An important element within this tradition is the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, symbolically completing the spiritual body of the Guman Thong during ceremonial preparation.

The figures then underwent extended chanting and meditative consecration according to the established Wat Sam Ngam method.

Of particular interest on this example is the retained red-and-white Sai Sin from the consecration ceremony, preserving a physical element associated with the ritual blessing of the Guman Thong.

Recommended Pairing

Guman Thong + Nang Kwak

Best for: Business owners, retail shops, salespeople, commission workers and freelancers.

The Guman Thong is traditionally believed to seek opportunities, attract customers, protect its owner and provide subtle intuitive warnings.

Nang Kwak is one of Thailand's classic merchant figures, honoured for beckoning customers, money and prosperous trade.

Together, they form a traditional business pairing. The Guman Thong is believed to draw opportunities and customers towards the owner, while Nang Kwak welcomes them into the business and encourages continued trade and stable cashflow.

This combination is traditionally seen in Thai shops, where Guman Thong and Nang Kwak may be positioned facing the entrance as complementary symbols of prosperity and customer attraction.

Personal Notes

The BE 2560 102nd Birthday Guman Thong commemorates one of the final milestones in the life of Luang Phor Yam and represents an important late-period release from Wat Sam Ngam.

This particular example is distinguished by its gold-painted Guman Thong figure, red-painted pedestal, sacred white blessing powder and retained red-and-white Sai Sin from the consecration ceremony. Together, these hand-finished details give the piece considerable individual character.

Its traditional sacred-material composition, connection to the Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha, 102nd Birthday provenance and preserved ceremonial Sai Sin make it a meaningful example from the later sacred works of Luang Phor Yam and the Luang Por Tae lineage.
