Business owners traditionally keep Guman Thong in their shops or workplaces for prosperity and customer attraction, while pendant-sized examples are carried daily for wealth, protection and guidance.
Summary
Created for Luang Phor Yam's 100th Birthday Anniversary, this BE 2557 (2014) Guman Thong continues the celebrated Wat Sam Ngam lineage inherited directly from the legendary Luang Por Tae.
This particular Barang example is finished with traditional black sacred paint, with sacred white blessing powder personally applied by Luang Phor Yam across the chest. A small gold-coloured sacred feature is set prominently into the front of the pedestal.
The original artifact has now been newly encased in a handcrafted silver waterproof casing, providing greater protection for the sacred clay body, painted surface and blessing powder while preparing the piece for long-term wear.
Traditionally, this Guman Thong is associated with wealth, business prosperity, attracting customers, protection, Metta and intuitive guidance.
Historical Background
Wat Sam Ngam, Nakhon Pathom, has long been recognised as one of Thailand's important centres of Guman Thong tradition. Its reputation was established through Luang Por Tae, whose Guman Thong Wicha became widely respected among Thai devotees and collectors.
Luang Phor Yam continued this lineage as a direct successor, preserving the established methods of preparing, awakening and consecrating Guman Thong.
The BE 2557 100th Birthday Anniversary Batch was created to commemorate Luang Phor Yam reaching a century of life and his many decades devoted to preserving the Wat Sam Ngam tradition.
The figure sits upon the characteristic Than Kratai (Rabbit Pedestal). Within this tradition, the rabbit is associated with eloquence, persuasive speech, successful negotiation, charm and prosperity — qualities particularly relevant to merchants and those whose livelihood depends upon dealing with people.
Sacred Materials & Ritual
The BE 2557 batch follows the traditional Wat Sam Ngam material formula, combining sacred substances preserved through its established Guman Thong lineage.
The sacred mixture includes:
- Holy soils from seven graveyards.
- Sacred earth from seven piers or ports.
- Materials gathered from other auspicious “seven places”.
- Pong Prai Kumarn sacred powder.
- Bone fragments.
- Temple earth.
- Sacred herbs and flower pollen.
- Old sacred powders preserved from Luang Por Tae's lineage.
- Baking clay forming the body of the Guman Thong.
The materials were carefully blended with the clay before each figure was individually moulded and fired.
This particular example received a black sacred painted finish. Sacred white blessing powder was subsequently applied by Luang Phor Yam, remaining clearly visible across the chest.
Each figure was individually prepared and finished by hand. Natural variations in the clay, firing, painted surface and application of sacred powder give every surviving Guman Thong its own individual character.
Consecration
The batch was consecrated according to the traditional Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha transmitted from Luang Por Tae to Luang Phor Yam.
Each figure underwent the established Guman Thong ritual, traditionally understood as inviting and establishing a benevolent spiritual presence within the sacred image.
An important part of the Wat Sam Ngam method is the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, symbolically completing the spiritual body of the Guman Thong during its ritual preparation.
The consecration continued through prolonged meditation and chanting performed by Luang Phor Yam, following the ritual tradition inherited through the Wat Sam Ngam lineage.

Recommended Pairing
Guman Thong + Nang Kwak
Best for: Business owners, retail shops, market stalls, salespeople, commission workers and freelancers.
The Guman Thong is traditionally believed to seek opportunities, attract customers, provide protection and offer subtle intuitive warnings to its owner.
Nang Kwak is Thailand's classic merchant figure, traditionally honoured for beckoning customers, money and prosperous trade into a business.
Their functions naturally complement each other. The Guman Thong is believed to go out and draw opportunities and customers towards the owner, while Nang Kwak calls them into the business and encourages continuing trade and stable cashflow.
This combination has long been used in Thai commercial settings, with Guman Thong and Nang Kwak commonly positioned facing the entrance as complementary guardians of prosperity.
Personal Notes
The BE 2557 100th Birthday Anniversary Guman Thong commemorates an important milestone in the life of Luang Phor Yam — his century of life and decades spent preserving the sacred tradition inherited from Luang Por Tae.
This particular example retains its distinctive black sacred finish and white blessing powder personally applied by Luang Phor Yam. Its newly fitted silver waterproof casing has been added to preserve these original features while making the artifact suitable for secure daily wear.
Its sacred clay composition, traditional Wat Sam Ngam consecration, distinctive Than Kratai form and direct connection to Luang Phor Yam's 100th Birthday Anniversary Batch make it a meaningful late-period artifact from one of Thailand's most recognised Guman Thong lineages.
