Business owners traditionally keep Guman Thong close to their shops or workplaces, while pendant-sized examples such as this are carried for wealth, customer attraction, protection and guidance.
Summary
Created in BE 2560 (2017), this Guman Thong belongs to Luang Phor Yam's special 102nd Birthday Batch, commemorating his remarkable 102nd year of life.
The edition continues the renowned Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage inherited from the legendary Luang Por Tae, whose Guman Thong Wicha established Wat Sam Ngam as one of Thailand's most recognised traditions for this form of sacred object.
This particular example is fully painted in gold and retains Sai Sin from the consecration ceremony, tied around the body of the Guman Thong. Sacred white blessing powder remains visible upon the head.
For long-term protection and daily wear, the artifact has subsequently been wrapped in a new handcrafted silver waterproof casing.
Traditionally, the Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong is associated with wealth, business prosperity, customer attraction, protection, Metta and intuitive guidance.
Historical Background
Wat Sam Ngam, Nakhon Pathom, became widely known through the Guman Thong Wicha of Luang Por Tae, one of the important masters associated with this tradition in modern Thai amulet culture.
His knowledge was preserved by Luang Phor Yam, who continued the Wat Sam Ngam lineage and its established methods of preparing and consecrating Guman Thong.
By BE 2560, Luang Phor Yam had reached 102 years of age. The 102nd Birthday Batch was created to commemorate this extraordinary milestone and his lifetime of preserving the lineage.
It consequently belongs to the final period of Luang Phor Yam's long life and remains an important commemorative edition among collectors of Wat Sam Ngam sacred objects.
Sacred Materials & Ritual
The body was formed from baking clay blended with traditional sacred materials associated with the Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong formula.
The mixture traditionally incorporates:
- Holy soils collected from seven graveyards.
- Sacred earth from seven piers or ports.
- Materials gathered from other auspicious “seven places”.
- Pong Prai Kumarn sacred powder.
- Bone fragments.
- Temple earth.
- Sacred herbs and flower pollen.
- Old sacred powders preserved through the Luang Por Tae lineage.
- Baking clay used to form the figure.
After preparation, this example was fully painted in gold, covering both the Guman Thong and its pedestal. Sacred white blessing powder was applied upon the head.
Most importantly, the figure retains red-and-white Sai Sin used during the consecration ceremony. Within Thai ritual tradition, Sai Sin is associated with the transmission and continuity of blessings during chanting and consecration, giving this example a visible connection to its ceremonial preparation.
The sacred mixture was prepared before each Guman Thong was individually formed and finished by hand. Variations in the clay surface, gold application, blessing powder and placement of the Sai Sin give each surviving example its own individual character.
Consecration
The batch followed the traditional Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha transmitted through the lineage of Luang Por Tae and preserved by Luang Phor Yam.
The ritual tradition includes the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, symbolically completing the spiritual body of the Guman Thong as part of its ceremonial preparation.
The figures then underwent extended chanting and meditative consecration according to the established Wat Sam Ngam method.
The Sai Sin retained around this particular figure originates from the consecration ceremony, preserving a physical element associated directly with the ritual blessing of the Guman Thong.

Recommended Pairing
Guman Thong + Nang Kwak
Best for: Business owners, shops, salespeople, commission workers and freelancers.
The Guman Thong is traditionally believed to seek opportunities, attract customers, protect its owner and provide subtle intuitive warnings.
Nang Kwak is one of Thailand's classic merchant figures, honoured for beckoning customers, money and prosperous trade.
Together, the pairing forms a traditional business combination: the Guman Thong is believed to draw opportunities and customers towards the owner, while Nang Kwak welcomes them into the business and encourages continued trade and stable cashflow.
In Thai shops, Guman Thong and Nang Kwak are traditionally seen together facing the entrance as complementary symbols of commerce, prosperity and customer attraction.
Personal Notes
The BE 2560 102nd Birthday Guman Thong commemorates an exceptional milestone in Luang Phor Yam's life and represents one of his important late-period Wat Sam Ngam releases.
This particular example has several visually significant characteristics: its complete gold-painted finish, sacred white blessing powder and retained red-and-white consecration Sai Sin.
The addition of a new silver waterproof casing provides lasting protection while preserving these original ceremonial elements inside.
Its traditional sacred-material composition, connection to the Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha, 102nd Birthday provenance and retained consecration Sai Sin make this a distinctive example for collectors interested in the later sacred works of Luang Phor Yam and the Luang Por Tae lineage.
