Summary
Created to commemorate Luang Phor Yam's 100th birthday, this BE 2557 (2014) Guman Thong continues the renowned Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage inherited directly from the legendary Luang Por Tae.
Unlike the gold-painted commemorative examples from the same release, this Barang artifact has been finished with traditional black sacred paint, creating a distinctive appearance while preserving the original blessings of the batch. Personally consecrated according to the authentic Wat Sam Ngam ritual tradition, this commemorative edition is highly respected for prosperity, business success, protection and intuitive guidance.
Historical Background
Wat Sam Ngam in Nakhon Pathom has long been recognised as one of Thailand's foremost centres for Guman Thong. The temple's reputation was established by Luang Por Tae, whose compassionate Guman Thong tradition became respected throughout Thailand.
As Luang Por Tae's direct successor, Luang Phor Yam faithfully preserved the original methods while continuing to create sacred Guman Thong for future generations. The 100th Birthday Anniversary Edition, released in BE 2557, celebrates both his remarkable century of life and his lifelong dedication to preserving this important lineage.
This commemorative series was produced on the distinctive Than Kratai (Rabbit Pedestal), a traditional symbol of eloquence, successful negotiation, prosperity, charm and personal attractiveness.
Sacred Materials & Ritual
This commemorative batch follows the authentic Wat Sam Ngam formula, combining sacred materials preserved through the temple's long-established Guman Thong lineage.
The sacred mixture includes:
- Holy soils collected from seven graveyards, seven piers, and other auspicious "seven places", forming the classic Wat Sam Ngam Prai foundation.
- Pong Prai Kumarn (Prai Kumarn sacred powder).
- Bone fragments.
- Temple earth.
- Sacred herbs and flower pollens.
- Original sacred powders preserved from Luang Por Tae's earlier creations.
The sacred materials were carefully blended with baking clay before each Guman Thong was individually moulded and kiln-fired.
This Barang example was subsequently finished with traditional black sacred paint, giving it a distinctive appearance while preserving the blessings bestowed during the consecration ceremony.
Consecration
The entire batch was consecrated according to the original Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha passed directly from Luang Por Tae.
Each figure underwent the traditional Wicha Guman Thong ritual, inviting a benevolent spiritual presence into the image through established ceremonial methods.
A central part of the ceremony was the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, a distinctive practice within the Wat Sam Ngam lineage that symbolically completes and awakens the spiritual body of the Guman Thong.
The consecration concluded with prolonged meditation and continuous chanting personally performed by Luang Phor Yam, strengthening the blessings according to the temple's original tradition.

Traditionally, this Guman Thong is associated with:

- Good fortune and new opportunities.

Recommended Pairing
Guman Thong + Nang Kwak
Best suited for: Business owners, retail shops, market stalls, freelancers and anyone whose livelihood depends on customers.
This is one of the most traditional pairings found throughout Thailand.
The Guman Thong is traditionally believed to seek out opportunities, attract customers, offer subtle intuitive warnings and watch over its owner. Nang Kwak, Thailand's revered merchant deity, is honoured for beckoning wealth, customers and continuous business into the premises.
Together they complement one another beautifully. Devotees believe the Guman Thong helps bring opportunities and customers towards the business, while Nang Kwak welcomes them inside and encourages steady trade and stable cashflow.
In many traditional Thai shops, a Guman Thong is placed on one side of the entrance and Nang Kwak on the other, with both facing the doorway as symbolic guardians of prosperity.
Personal Notes
The BE 2557 100th Birthday Anniversary Guman Thong represents one of the most important commemorative releases from Wat Sam Ngam. Beyond celebrating Luang Phor Yam's remarkable century of life, it preserves the authentic Guman Thong methods inherited directly from Luang Por Tae.
This black-painted Barang example showcases another traditional finish found within the commemorative release. Combined with the carefully prepared sacred materials, traditional Wat Sam Ngam consecration and direct connection to one of Thailand's most respected Guman Thong lineages, it remains a meaningful piece for collectors who appreciate both its historical significance and enduring spiritual heritage.
