Summary
Created in BE 2560 (2017), this Guman Thong belongs to Luang Phor Yam's special 102nd Birthday Batch, commemorating his remarkable 102nd year of life.
The edition continues the famous Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage inherited from Luang Por Tae, whose Guman Thong Wicha established the temple's lasting reputation.
This particular example is preserved in its original baked-clay state with no painted finish. The natural brown surface allows the texture, sacred-material mixture and details of the moulded figure to remain clearly visible. Sacred white blessing powder is retained upon the head.
The Guman Thong has subsequently been newly encased in a handcrafted silver waterproof casing, protecting the original clay body and blessing powder for long-term collection and wear.
Historical Background
Wat Sam Ngam, Nakhon Pathom, is one of the best-known names associated with the Thai Guman Thong tradition. Its reputation was established through the sacred knowledge of Luang Por Tae and later preserved by his successor, Luang Phor Yam.
Luang Phor Yam continued preparing and consecrating Guman Thong according to the established Wat Sam Ngam lineage throughout his long monastic life.
In BE 2560, he reached the exceptional age of 102 years. The 102nd Birthday Batch was produced to commemorate this milestone and his lifetime of preserving the Guman Thong tradition.
For collectors, it represents an important late-period release connected directly with Luang Phor Yam and the historic Wat Sam Ngam lineage.
Sacred Materials & Ritual
The Guman Thong was formed from baking clay combined with sacred materials traditionally associated with the Wat Sam Ngam formula.
The sacred mixture incorporates:
- Holy soils collected from seven graveyards.
- Sacred earth from seven piers or ports.
- Materials gathered from other auspicious “seven places”.
- Pong Prai Kumarn sacred powder.
- Bone fragments.
- Temple earth.
- Sacred herbs and flower pollen.
- Old sacred powders preserved through the Luang Por Tae lineage.
- Baking clay forming the body and pedestal.
After the sacred mixture was prepared, each figure was individually moulded and baked to form the finished artifact.
This example was left unpainted, retaining the natural brown colour and surface of the original baked clay. Sacred white blessing powder remains applied to the head as part of its ritual preparation.
The sacred materials were carefully mixed before each Guman Thong was individually formed and baked. Natural differences in the clay mixture, firing, surface texture and blessing powder mean that every piece has its own individual character.
Consecration
The batch followed the traditional Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong Wicha transmitted through the lineage of Luang Por Tae and preserved by Luang Phor Yam.
An important element associated with this tradition is the Invocation of the Thirty-Two Body Parts, symbolically completing the spiritual body of the Guman Thong during its ceremonial preparation.
The figures subsequently underwent extended chanting and meditative consecration according to the established Wat Sam Ngam method.
This combination of sacred material preparation and traditional ritual forms the foundation of the Guman Thong's spiritual significance within the lineage.

Recommended Pairing
Guman Thong + Nang Kwak
Best for: Business owners, shops, salespeople, freelancers and commission-based work.
The Guman Thong is traditionally associated with seeking opportunities, attracting customers, guarding its owner and providing subtle intuitive warnings.
Nang Kwak is one of Thailand's classic merchant figures, honoured for beckoning customers, money and prosperous trade.
Together they form a traditional business pairing. The Guman Thong is believed to draw opportunities and customers towards the owner, while Nang Kwak welcomes them into the business and encourages continued trade and stable cashflow.
This pairing is commonly associated with Thai shops and businesses, where both sacred figures may be positioned facing the entrance as complementary symbols of prosperity and customer attraction.
Personal Notes
The BE 2560 102nd Birthday Guman Thong commemorates one of the final milestones of Luang Phor Yam's exceptionally long life and his decades of preserving the sacred knowledge inherited from Luang Por Tae.
This particular example is especially appealing in its original unpainted baked-clay state. The natural surface reveals the character of the sacred clay mixture and the small variations created during forming and firing, while the retained white blessing powder preserves an important element of its ritual preparation.
Now protected within a new silver waterproof casing, the original Guman Thong remains preserved for long-term wear and collection.
Its natural baked-clay condition, traditional sacred-material composition, 102nd Birthday provenance and direct connection to the Wat Sam Ngam Guman Thong lineage make it a distinctive late-period example of Luang Phor Yam's sacred work.
