The Dao Mae Nam Hom is a classic creation of Luang Phor Pinak of Wat Sanamlao, a master whose works are recognized among serious collectors across Thailand and beyond. This particular amulet has circulated in Singapore since as early as 2008. At that time, only me and my old partner brought them in, often met with skepticism by others. Today, those same critics now carry LP Pinak’s amulets, acknowledging their efficacy and importance.

Symbolism of the Star

The front of the piece features a five-pointed star, representing the sacred syllables Na Mo Put Ta Ya—a formula invoking the power of the Five Buddhas. Each point corresponds to one of the five essential blessings:

• Protection from harm and danger

• Attraction for metta and seneh

• Wealth fetching and sustenance

• Invulnerability in times of danger

• Dispelling evil intent from enemies or unseen forces

On the reverse, an eight-sided star radiates these blessings across the eight directions of the universe, ensuring that the wearer is safeguarded and supported wherever they go.

LP Pinak himself once remarked that just as sailors cannot navigate without stars in the night sky, humans too cannot find their path without guidance.
