Luang Phor Phad – Wat Dong Tan (Wat Samakkhitham), Lopburi
During the restoration of Wat Dong Tan’s main chapel in 2000, thousands of small clay Buddha amulets were discovered sealed beneath the principal Buddha statue. Each piece shows the Buddha in meditation above a tiger or singha, with a small chamber on top containing sacred powders prepared through old yantra-writing rituals. The clay mixture is coarse with mineral grains, fired in earthen jars that produced natural color tones from white to deep brown—proof of traditional craftsmanship.
These amulets were made under the guidance of Luang Phor Phad Wiruttamo, a monk deeply connected to Luang Phor Pan of Wat Bang Nom Kho, one of Thailand’s most respected masters. Historical accounts say Luang Phor Phad asked his teacher, Luang Phor Pan, to help consecrate these pieces for installation under the temple’s main Buddha. The design reflects both masters’ lineages—the tiger representing power and personal command, the singha representing dignity and leadership. The surrounding halo follows the old Ayutthaya-era sacred style symbolizing spiritual radiance.
For nearly seventy years, these amulets remained sealed under the temple’s main image, absorbing decades of prayers, chanting, and merit. When they were finally uncovered, their spiritual charge was evident. In Thai tradition, relics stored in temples for long periods are believed to develop a calm but powerful blessing energy—strengthening the mind, inviting goodwill, and supporting those who wear them with steady luck and resilience.
For devotees who admire Luang Phor Pan’s amulets but prefer something more attainable, the Wat Dong Tan piece carries the same spiritual lineage and blessing field. It’s made in the same era, with the same ritual methods, and blessed through the same channel of faith.
Personally, this piece marked the start of my own journey. Years ago, I couldn’t afford a Luang Phor Pan amulet, so I began by wearing one from Wat Dong Tan. Over time, I saw how it changed my confidence and results—it brought good people and opportunities into my life. Years later, I became the main Singapore dealer handling more Luang Phor Pan amulets than anyone else in 2016. That growth started from this simple, history-rich piece that I still hold great respect for today.
