Just privately sold a Lp Mui Roon 3 also encased in 50 yr old plastic like this piece. We were just talking about if we should remove the old casing and rewrap.

My feel is not to do so even though it won't affect the value but the old plastic is also an art no one wraps plastic like old days anymore.

This piece was not only blessed by Lp Mui in the old times and even now some devotees would attend the ceremony and after that the Temple will hand out the Sai Sin (holy string) that was held by Lp Mui in the ceremony to the devotees present.

They would get an amulet from the ceremony as most times they were either given out or in this case you can buy it on the spot (no one will give out Nga Chang amulet)

Then they will wrap it as such.

These old style wrappings not only help with identifying real amulets but also adds to the flavor and essence also you know the string is from the ceremony and it has been wrapped like this since day 1 !!!
