Phaya Tao Ruean – Metta Baramee 90 Pi

LP Liew, Wat Rai Tang Tong
B.E. 2538 (1995)
Samakom card

Each Phaya Tao Ruean was individually struck and ritually prepared, resulting in natural variations in surface, toning and finishing. These small differences give every surviving example its own individual character.

Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Among devotees of LP Liew, Phaya Tao Ruean has long been associated with wealth, steady progress, Metta, protection and the gradual improvement of one's livelihood.

Luksits frequently describe its character as steady rather than sudden. Business may gradually become more consistent, customers return more frequently, useful contacts appear, and difficult situations begin moving towards resolution.

For those involved in trade and business, experiences commonly centre upon improved customer relationships, smoother negotiations and more stable income. Others have reported receiving help from senior figures or benefactors at moments when progress had previously stalled.

LP Liew's Phaya Tao Ruean is also highly regarded for Klaew Klaad. Travellers and drivers traditionally carry it for protection, while those facing complicated disputes value the tortoise's symbolism of patience and surviving difficult circumstances without unnecessary confrontation.

The appeal of this edition lies in this balance: Metta brings people closer, Baramee earns their respect, wealth develops steadily, and the tortoise provides the patience to preserve what has been gained.

Summary

This is a Phaya Tao Ruean medal of LP Liew of Wat Rai Tang Tong, created in B.E. 2538 (1995) for the celebrated Metta Baramee 90 Pi edition commemorating LP Liew's 90th year.

This example is produced in silver and takes the distinctive sacred tortoise form closely associated with LP Liew's Wicha.

The central image shows LP Liew seated in meditation upon the shell of Phaya Tao Ruean, surrounded by sacred inscriptions. The reverse carries sacred Yant associated with the batch.

Phaya Tao Ruean became the defining sacred form of LP Liew and is traditionally associated with Metta Maha Niyom, wealth, Choke Lap, longevity, protection, Klaew Klaad, career advancement and steady progress through life.

Historical Background

LP Liew was one of the respected modern guru monks associated with Wat Rai Tang Tong in Nakhon Pathom.

Born in B.E. 2448 (1905), he lived through almost the entire 20th century and became particularly renowned for the sacred Phaya Tao Ruean — King Turtle tradition.

Over time, his tortoise amulets became recognised throughout Thailand, particularly among traders, business owners, travellers and devotees seeking stability in their lives.

LP Liew passed away in B.E. 2543 (2000) at the age of 95.

His sacred objects continue to be collected not only because of their distinctive forms but because of the accumulated experiences passed down by generations of devotees.

Metta Baramee 90 Pi

The Metta Baramee 90 Pi edition was created around LP Liew's 90th year in B.E. 2538.

The name itself carries considerable meaning.

Metta refers to loving-kindness, goodwill and favourable relationships.

Baramee refers to accumulated spiritual virtue, personal presence and the respect that develops through one's conduct.

Together, Metta Baramee represents the ability to progress through life with the goodwill and assistance of others.

For merchants and people dependent upon relationships, this combination became especially desirable.

Customers are attracted through Metta, opportunities develop through Baramee, while the steady nature of Phaya Tao Ruean supports long-term stability.

Phaya Tao Ruean – The King Turtle

The tortoise holds an important position within traditional Thai sacred symbolism.

Its long lifespan represents longevity and endurance.

Its strong shell represents protection.

Its measured movement represents patience and steady advancement.

It may progress slowly, yet it continues without abandoning its direction.

This makes Phaya Tao Ruean particularly meaningful for wealth and livelihood. Sustainable prosperity is understood as something developed gradually through patience, consistency and the ability to preserve what has already been achieved.

For this reason, LP Liew's tortoise became especially popular among business owners and people working towards long-term financial stability.

Sacred Design & Wicha

The sacred tortoise form itself functions as more than an ornamental border.

At the centre is LP Liew seated in meditation, establishing the direct connection to the master and his Baramee.

The surrounding shell contains sacred inscriptions and ritual elements associated with the Wicha of Phaya Tao Ruean.

The reverse carries a prominent sacred Yant, reinforcing the ritual character of the piece.

Together, the design combines the Baramee of LP Liew, the protective shell of the tortoise and sacred inscriptions intended to support Metta, prosperity and protection.

Traditional Blessings & Qualities

Metta Maha Niyom — goodwill, popularity and favourable treatment from customers, colleagues and senior figures.

Wealth & Choke Lap — supporting livelihood, financial opportunities and the gradual accumulation of prosperity.

Business Stability — traditionally favoured by merchants and business owners seeking consistent customers and sustainable income.

Baramee — strengthening personal presence, credibility and the respect received from others.

Klaew Klaad & Khum Khrong — protection during travel, work and unpredictable circumstances.

Longevity — one of the oldest symbolic qualities associated with the tortoise.

Career Progress — supporting advancement through patience, reputation and reliable performance.

Disputes & Negotiations — traditionally valued when difficult situations require patience and a peaceful resolution.

Modern Application

Phaya Tao Ruean remains particularly relevant for people whose success depends upon time, relationships and consistency.

Business owners may carry it for customer retention, stable sales and smoother negotiations.

Professionals may appreciate its Metta Baramee qualities when dealing with employers, senior management or important clients.

Those involved in long-term projects may find the symbolism particularly meaningful: progress does not need to be immediate to be successful.

It is also a popular travelling piece because of its longstanding association with Klaew Klaad and protection.

Physical Details

This example is fashioned in silver and follows the distinctive tortoise-shaped design associated with LP Liew.

The front depicts LP Liew seated centrally within the shell, surrounded by numerous sacred characters and finely worked details across the tortoise's head, limbs and shell.

The reverse presents a comparatively open composition centred upon a large sacred Yant, with additional inscriptions arranged around it.

The silver surface has developed natural age-related toning within recessed areas, bringing greater definition to the sacred inscriptions and central portrait.

The medal has been preserved within a finely worked silver casing, allowing both sides and the distinctive tortoise outline to remain fully visible.

Recommended Pairing

Phaya Tao Ruean is sufficiently balanced to serve as a principal everyday sacred object.

For business and wealth purposes, it pairs naturally with Nang Kwak, Choke Lap and wealth-fetching amulets, with the tortoise providing stability to the more active attraction qualities of those pieces.

It also pairs well with Roop Lors of respected masters for additional Baramee and spiritual guidance.

For those who travel frequently, it may be combined with established Klaew Klaad pieces, although LP Liew's Phaya Tao Ruean already carries a strong protective tradition of its own.

Personal Notes

LP Liew's Phaya Tao Ruean is one of those sacred forms where the symbolism immediately explains the Wicha.

The tortoise does not rush.

It protects itself, survives difficult conditions and continues moving forward.

This is also an appropriate way to understand Metta Baramee. Lasting progress often develops through relationships, trust, patience and the gradual accumulation of Baramee rather than through one sudden opportunity.

The B.E. 2538 Metta Baramee 90 Pi silver edition brings these qualities together within one of LP Liew's most recognisable sacred forms.

For collectors seeking wealth, Metta, protection, longevity and steady progress, Phaya Tao Ruean remains one of the defining amulet traditions of LP Liew and Wat Rai Tang Thong.
