Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

I was first introduced to this piece through my amulet wrapper, whom many of you have seen numerous times in my videos. When I first met him around 15 years ago, he was a simple plastic amulet wrapper and had received this piece as a birthday gift.

After he began wearing it, his career gradually progressed. He moved from wrapping amulets in plastic to working with silver frames, and later gold frames. Eventually, he established his own gold-frame factory, which today handles the framing of many of our amulets.

Over the years, his financial position also improved considerably. He accumulated substantial savings and eventually acquired several assets of his own.

His experience was actually one of the reasons I began offering this piece around 15 years ago. Since then, I have seen many other people who obtained and wore this amulet experience their own forms of progress, particularly in career, business and financial stability.

Of course, every person's circumstances are different, and these experiences should not be regarded as guaranteed outcomes. However, after observing my wrapper's journey from the very beginning and hearing similar experiences from other luksits over the years, this piece has remained personally meaningful to me.

Summary

The Phra Sivali B.E. 2500 of LP Kuay, Wat Kositaram is one of the most popular early Phra Sivali batches associated with the highly respected master of Chainat.

Created in the traditional standing form, the amulet represents Phra Sivali, the arahant traditionally associated with abundance, Metta Maha Niyom, Choke Lap, smooth journeys and the continuous arrival of necessary resources.

The B.E. 2500 (1957) batch has remained particularly sought after among collectors of LP Kuay. With these amulets now approaching seven decades of age, examples retaining good definition and overall integrity have become increasingly difficult to encounter.

The clearly preserved standing image and naturally aged character of this particular example make it an excellent piece for both wearing and collection.

Historical Background

LP Kuay of Wat Kositaram, Chainat, remains one of the most respected masters within Thailand's modern amulet tradition.

Known for his extensive knowledge of meditation, sacred inscriptions and traditional wicha, LP Kuay consecrated many forms of sacred objects throughout his lifetime. His amulets remain widely collected today and are particularly respected among devotees for traditions concerning Metta, protection, Choke Lap, prosperity and support in one's livelihood.

Phra Sivali became one of the sacred figures represented within LP Kuay's amulet tradition, carrying a meaning particularly suited to merchants, travellers and people whose livelihoods depend upon opportunity and interaction with others.

Phra Sivali – The Arahant of Abundance

Phra Sivali was one of the Buddha's important disciples and is traditionally remembered as foremost among the Sangha in receiving offerings.

Wherever Phra Sivali travelled, sufficient food, shelter and other necessities were said to arise readily for the monks accompanying him. His story therefore became closely associated with the idea that necessary resources would continue to appear along one's journey.

Within Thai Buddhist culture, Phra Sivali consequently became an important symbol of abundance, prosperity and uninterrupted livelihood.

His image is especially popular among merchants and travellers, as well as those who depend upon customers, negotiations, connections and favourable opportunities.

The standing travelling form seen on this amulet reflects this tradition — moving forward while the necessities required for the journey continue to arise.

Phra Sivali & LP Kuay

Phra Sivali holds an important place within the sacred-object tradition associated with LP Kuay.

LP Kuay was highly respected for his meditation practice and knowledge of traditional wicha. His blessing tradition became particularly associated among devotees with Metta, prosperity, Choke Lap and assistance in matters of livelihood.

These qualities naturally complement the traditional symbolism of Phra Sivali.

For devotees, the combination represents the continuous movement of opportunity: customers arriving, helpful connections developing, necessary resources becoming available and obstacles surrounding one's livelihood becoming easier to overcome.

This has helped make LP Kuay's Phra Sivali amulets particularly popular among merchants and working people.

The B.E. 2500 Batch

This example belongs to the B.E. 2500 (1957) batch, regarded as one of the most popular and recognisable early Phra Sivali issues associated with LP Kuay.

The amulet follows a traditional elongated form, with Phra Sivali shown standing and carrying the belongings associated with his travels.

Its straightforward moulding and naturally aged appearance preserve the character of an early temple-made sacred object from this period.

Surviving examples can differ considerably in colour, surface condition, mould definition and preservation. After almost seventy years, pieces retaining a clearly recognisable standing figure and good overall integrity have become increasingly desirable.

The B.E. 2500 batch consequently holds significance both for devotees wishing to wear an early LP Kuay Phra Sivali and for collectors seeking representative pieces from his amulet tradition.

Traditional Blessings

Phra Sivali is traditionally associated with Metta Maha Niyom, Choke Lap, Kha Khai and abundance.

Devotees commonly seek his blessings for:

  • Wealth and continuous livelihood

  • Business and trading opportunities

  • Customer attraction and Kha Khai

  • Metta and popularity

  • Helpful connections and benefactors

  • Choke Lap and favourable opportunities

  • Smooth travel

  • Fewer obstacles in work and business

At the heart of the Phra Sivali tradition is the concept of continuous provision — wherever one travels or conducts one's livelihood, the necessary people, resources and opportunities may arise along the path.

Modern Application

The traditional qualities associated with Phra Sivali remain particularly relevant to modern commercial life.

Business owners, salespeople, property agents, insurance professionals, entrepreneurs and those working on commission all depend upon a steady flow of enquiries, customers and successful interactions.

Phra Sivali is therefore commonly worn with prayers for consistent opportunities, smoother negotiations, supportive relationships and continued progress in one's livelihood.

His traditional association with travel also makes the amulet suitable for those who frequently move between locations for business or work.

Collecting Significance

The B.E. 2500 Phra Sivali is regarded as one of the more popular early Phra Sivali batches associated with LP Kuay.

Its appeal comes from the combination of its early period, recognisable standing Phra Sivali imagery and association with one of Chainat's most respected masters.

Condition becomes increasingly important with sacred objects of this age. Decades of handling, carrying and preservation naturally result in differences between surviving examples, and pieces retaining strong definition are increasingly difficult to encounter.

This particular example retains a clearly recognisable figure of Phra Sivali together with an attractive naturally aged surface, giving it strong appeal as both a wearable sacred object and an established collector's piece.

Each amulet was individually produced, resulting in natural differences in surface texture, colour, mould definition and form. Combined with decades of ageing and preservation, these variations give every surviving example its own individual character.
