Somdej Pim – Chiang Mai 700-Year Commemoration
Luang Phor Koon | Ancient Lamphun Relic Powders | B.E. 2538
This classic Somdej Pim was pressed as part of the same historic 700-Year Anniversary of Chiang Mai batch in B.E. 2538 (1995), blessed in dual-phase rituals involving Luang Phor Koon and the Northern Lanna monastic sangha. While many collectors fixate on rare designs or gemstone insets, it is this Somdej Pim that forms the spiritual core of the batch — modeled after traditional Somdej forms but infused with truly ancient northern spiritual heritage.
Over 1,300 Years in the Making – The Power of Lamphun
The base material of this Somdej consists of more than 80% ancient relic powder from Lamphun, believed to date back to the Dvaravati–Hariphunchai period, the same lineage as Phra Rod Hariphunchai, one of the Five Benjapakee greats. The materials were sourced, guarded, and prepared with intention to awaken deep protective power and metta-baramee:
-
Protection with karmic precision
-
Metta for social elevation and likeability
-
Stability, wealth flow, and sacred resilience
The relic materials are not commonly released and were said to be kept for generations before being offered specifically for this 700-Year commemoration, adding both historical and spiritual gravity to the amulet.
The LP Koon Catalyst – A Spiritual Exchange
This batch marked an important turning point in Luang Phor Koon’s journey. Upon learning of the sacred powders being prepared in Chiang Mai, he requested a portion to use in his own future batches, recognizing their potency. In exchange, he agreed to:
-
Bless the powders before pressing
-
Give permission to use his name and energy for the commemorative batch
-
Conduct a full blessing ceremony again once the pieces were pressed
This moment of mutual respect between North and Central monastics is widely viewed as the spiritual ignition point that led to LP Koon’s most efficacious and commercially successful series in the years that followed.
Ritual Cycle & Empowerment
1st Blessing – Wat Ban Rai (Nakhon Ratchasima):
Luang Phor Koon blessed the raw powders in solitude with mantra and metta before sending them back to the North.
2nd Blessing – Wat Phra Singh (Chiang Mai):
A grand public consecration involving top Northern monks, conducted in honor of Chiang Mai’s 700th year. The energy was rooted in Lanna forest traditions — quiet, precise, but potent.
3rd Blessing – Final Empowerment by LP Koon:
In October B.E. 2538, the pressed amulets were again brought to Wat Ban Rai, where LP Koon conducted final mantra cycles. It is during this stage that the pieces became “activated,” resonating with LP Koon’s well-known blessings of luck, charm, protection, and financial upliftment.
Why This Pim is Underrated
While many overlook the Somdej Pim due to its simple silhouette, this form is:
-
The most stable in energy due to balanced symmetry
-
The easiest to pair with daily wear — formal, neutral, adaptable
-
More focused on meditative and baramee strength compared to Seneh-focused designs
Every piece from this batch carries handwritten edge markings from the maker — a detail that cannot be faked or mass-replicated, making each one unique.
Ideal For:
-
Business professionals seeking respect and decision-making clarity
-
Spiritual practitioners who want strength and stillness
-
Collectors looking for long-term energy growth over flashy surface value
