Somdej Nang Phaya – Standard Pim (No Gem)
Luang Phor Koon | Chiang Mai 700-Year Commemoration | Ancient Lamphun Sacred Powders | B.E. 2538
This understated but deeply powerful Somdej Nang Phaya is part of the same legendary commemorative batch created for the 700-Year Anniversary of Chiang Mai in 1995 (B.E. 2538). While this version omits the gemstone inlay, it retains every ounce of potency, historical reverence, and sacred material value of the gem-inset pieces—often preferred by serious collectors for its cleaner form and unaltered energy matrix.
Rooted in the Spirit of Lamphun – 1,300-Year-Old Sacred Relics
The amulet is composed of a high percentage (80% or more) of ancient powder from Lamphun, specifically relic matter associated with the same source material used in the crafting of Phra Rod Hariphunchai, one of the Benjapakee Top 5. This material is estimated to date back over 1,300 years, originating from the Dvaravati–Hariphunchai period, and is renowned for:
-
Strong protection
-
Metta and social elevation
-
Blessings that align with karmic purity and high baramee
The Luang Phor Koon Exchange – A Turning Point
This batch marked a significant collaboration between Northern Lanna Buddhist committees and Luang Phor Koon of Wat Ban Rai. At the time, LP Koon was already respected but had yet to achieve the peak fame of his later decades. After learning of the Lamphun relic materials being assembled, he personally requested a portion of the powders to be sent to him for his own blessing work.
In return, he agreed to consecrate the full batch, both before and after pressing. This exchange of sacred effort for sacred relics is widely regarded as the event that catalyzed LP Koon’s most effective and widely sought-after amulet series of the late '90s and early 2000s.
Collectors often refer to this batch as the genesis point of LP Koon’s high-efficacy phase — where spiritual potency, sacred substance, and ceremonial scale aligned.
Triple-Stage Consecration
-
Initial Material Blessing
Sacred powders sent to Wat Ban Rai, where Luang Phor Koon chanted over them in solitude before the amulets were even pressed. -
Main Ceremony at Wat Phra Singh
One of the most historic and grand Buddhist ceremonies in Chiang Mai at the time. Attended by top Northern masters and provincial monks to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the city’s founding. Lanna-style consecration was used, embedding this batch with northern-style spiritual discipline and grounding. -
Final Empowerment by LP Koon
Once completed, the pressed amulets were again brought to Luang Phor Koon in October B.E. 2538, where he gave a full batch blessing at Wat Ban Rai, aligning them with his famed metta-maha-niyom energy — known for wealth, luck, social upliftment, and unshakeable charm.
Why This Pim Matters
Though lacking the visual flourish of a gemstone, this version is preferred by many purists for the following reasons:
-
Unbroken sacred powder surface allows full energetic integrity
-
No cosmetic enhancements — just raw spiritual intent and ritual authenticity
-
Highly limited batch with personal inscriptions by the maker on the edge of each piece (handwritten, not cast or printed)
It is said that the baramee (spiritual weight) of this piece grows stronger with time, aligning more powerfully with practitioners who carry moral discipline and actively walk the path of dhamma and effort.
Final Notes
This Somdej Nang Phaya without gemstone remains one of the most historically important amulets connected to LP Koon, despite not being one of his direct temple releases. Its merit lies in its spiritual composition, ritual precision, and sacred heritage.
It is part of the wider circle of “power transfer” amulets, where ancient Northern power was awakened through Central blessing — a balance rarely achieved at this scale.
Ideal for those seeking:
-
Career and leadership recognition
-
Personal clarity and mental discipline
-
Powerful metta that opens doors silently but decisively
