Phra Pong “Singha Kasetn” – Luang Phor Kasem, Lampang, B.E. 2503 (1960)

Provenance
This particular piece carries exceptional provenance. It was sourced directly from an elderly devotee who had personally received it from Luang Phor Kasem himself. To preserve its authenticity, he even wrote details on a slip of paper—recording the monk from whom he collected it and the date of acquisition—and attached it to the back of the amulet. Such first-hand documentation adds significant weight to the amulet’s credibility and history.

Details
This is an early-era sacred powder amulet (phra pong) created by Luang Phor Kasem Khemako, one of Northern Thailand’s most revered ascetics. It was made in 1960, during his formative years of renown, and is considered one of the most important and highly regarded batches of his sacred objects.

The materials (muan sarn) are of the highest order, combining elements of deep Buddhist significance and personal relics of Luang Phor Kasem:

  • Soil from the Four Holy Sites of Buddhism in India (Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kusinara).

  • Palm-leaf manuscripts and khoi paper scriptures inscribed with Buddhist teachings, chants, and Dhamma texts—when damaged or worn out, they were ritually burned and ground to fine powder.

  • Flowers, incense ash, and remnants of offerings brought by devotees out of faith to Luang Phor Kasem.

  • Incense sticks and dried flowers used personally by Luang Phor during meditation and worship.

  • Leftover rice from Luang Phor’s alms bowl, dried and ground into powder.

  • Sacred powders from multiple Buddhist consecration ceremonies.

  • Molasses, tree resins, and binding agents to solidify the amulet.

  • Most importantly, Luang Phor Kasem’s own hair, collected when he shaved his head, was included as a direct relic.

The front depicts the Buddha image in a seated posture, while the reverse shows traces of the sacred powders and relics. This particular piece is beautifully preserved in a custom silver casing.

Significance
Amulets from Luang Phor Kasem are highly venerated for their spiritual depth. The combination of holy-site relics, sacred scriptures, devotional offerings, and his own personal relics makes this amulet a reservoir of blessings. It is especially credited with:

  • Strong protection against dangers and misfortune.

  • Metta and baramee (loving-kindness and spiritual prestige), attracting respect and goodwill.

  • Wealth and stability, from the blessings tied to Luang Phor’s practice of extreme renunciation and self-sacrifice, which generated immense spiritual merit.

Because this is an early-period creation (B.E. 2503) with directly documented provenance, it holds even greater historical and collector’s value, representing the roots of Luang Phor Kasem’s sacred legacy.
