Created in BE 2531 at Wat Sakae, Ayutthaya, under the direct blessing of Luang Pu Du Phrommapanyo. The coin was pressed in round form with an integrated loop. The obverse shows Luang Pu Du in full meditation posture surrounded by sacred yant inscriptions, with the text “๑ Phrommapanyo (Du) Wat Sakae Sri Ayutthaya” and the year 2531 below. The reverse carries a full yantra design for prosperity and protection.

Five materials were made — 56 pieces in gold, 1,000 in silver, 200 in nava loha, 300 in lead, and 10,000 in copper. At the time of production, reservations were few. When informed, Luang Pu said calmly, “Continue as planned. In future, this coin will be rare and sought after. Whoever keeps it will become wealthy.” From this statement, it became known as the “Rian Setthi.”

Luang Pu Du Phrommapanyo was born on 29 April 1904 in Ayutthaya and ordained at Wat Sakae in BE 2468. His teachers included Luang Pu Klun of Wat Phra Yatikaram, Luang Pu Dae of Wat Sakae, and Luang Pu Chai of Wat Klang Khlong Sra Bua. His Dhamma teachings were simple and direct, drawn from deep meditative realization and long years of practice.

To me, he stands among the few monks whose meditation reached the realms of Phra Phrom and Luang Phor Thuad — masters who transcended the limits of ordinary perception. His amulets carry the depth of such attainment, unlike many modern masters whose cultivation is shallow. This Rian Setthi, born from true meditative power, has brought genuine fortune to countless devotees, especially businessmen and government officials in Thailand who keep it close as a symbol of prosperity and karmic protection.

Luang Pu Du entered parinibbana on 17 January 1990 at age 85, after 65 rains. His legacy endures through pieces like this — sacred not by fame, but by the depth of mind that gave them life.
