Personal Experiences Shared by Luksits

Krut from AJ Jit has always been particularly personal to me.

When I first moved into Golden Mile, the business environment was extremely competitive. There were people working against one another, internal politics, and individuals whom I felt were deliberately trying to obstruct my progress.

During that period, I kept Phra Krut by Arjan Jit together with my Wua Tanu from Por Sala Tan.

Over time, the people who had been creating difficulties gradually disappeared from the picture, and some eventually went out of business altogether. The obstacles surrounding my own work also began to clear, allowing me to concentrate on moving forward.

I regarded the experience as particularly meaningful because it reflected the qualities for which I had carried Phra Krut in the first place — protection from harmful intentions, clearing obstacles and creating a more stable path forward.

It was not something I kept briefly and moved on from; it became part of my spiritual practice through an important period of my business life.

Summary

Phra Krut, or Garuda, is one of the most commanding figures found in Thai sacred and protective traditions.

Garuda is the great celestial bird of Buddhist and Hindu cosmology and is traditionally associated with authority, sovereignty, protection, victory and the overcoming of hostile forces.

Within Thai amulet culture, Phra Krut is consequently carried by people who require strength when confronting difficult circumstances — particularly business owners, managers and those regularly dealing with institutions, negotiations or complicated administrative matters.

Arjan Jit's Phra Krut follows this tradition with a strong emphasis on removing obstacles, clearing red tape, protection against betrayal and supporting steady forward movement.

Historical Background

Garuda has ancient roots throughout South and Southeast Asian religious culture.

Known in Thailand as Phra Krut, Garuda is traditionally described as a powerful celestial being and the vehicle of Vishnu. Buddhist literature also recognises Garudas as a class of mighty supernatural beings.

In Thailand, Garuda acquired an additional association with royal and state authority. The figure therefore carries meanings beyond physical strength: legitimacy, rank, command, dignity and recognised authority.

In sacred-object traditions, these qualities developed into a protective interpretation. Phra Krut is carried to symbolically rise above obstruction, withstand opposition and overcome circumstances that restrict one's progress.

Its traditional association with authority also explains its popularity among those involved in business, leadership, official dealings, contracts and negotiations.

Origins of the Lineage

Arjan Jit's practice developed through connections with several established teachers and lineages.

Of particular importance to me was his connection with LP Up, whose tradition was one of the principal reasons I initially began following Arjan Jit's work. Arjan Jit is also connected through his teachers to the lineage of LP Kuay, as a third-generation luksit.

My own relationship with him eventually became much more personal than simply collecting his sacred objects.

For approximately 15 years, Arjan Jit has also served as one of my spiritual advisers.

Over those years, I followed many of his temple-building and religious projects. Through the proceeds generated from renting out his sacred items, I contributed more than $1 million towards these initiatives over that period.

Much of the purpose behind his sacred-object work was therefore connected with actual religious projects rather than continual production for its own sake.

Having accomplished many of those goals, Arjan Jit now produces sacred objects only infrequently. Preparing them properly requires considerable time and effort, and his output has consequently become much more limited.

Ritual

Phra Krut is traditionally approached as an authoritative protective image.

Rather than being centred primarily upon attraction or wealth, its character is directed towards command, protection, overcoming opposition and removing obstructions.

For Arjan Jit's piece, these qualities are particularly associated with situations where progress has become unnecessarily complicated — prolonged negotiations, bureaucracy, business obstruction, workplace politics or people acting dishonestly behind one's back.

The intention is not simply aggression towards an opponent. The more traditional interpretation is that obstruction is removed so that the bearer can continue along the proper path.

This distinction is important to understanding the character of Phra Krut.

The principal traditional quality associated with this Phra Krut is the clearing of obstacles.

Among luksits, this can include difficulties involving bureaucracy and red tape, delayed approvals, complicated negotiations, business disputes or circumstances in which progress repeatedly appears blocked.

Another important association is protection against betrayal and people acting dishonestly behind one's back. Within the tradition, Garuda represents sufficient authority and strength that hidden opposition cannot easily remain concealed.

Other traditional associations include baramee and authority, particularly for those responsible for staff, businesses or important decisions; protection against harmful influences; confidence during difficult negotiations; stability during periods of competition; and the strength to continue forward when circumstances become challenging.

Phra Krut is particularly relevant to people whose work involves responsibility, competition and decision-making.

For a business owner, the symbolism is straightforward: remain above unnecessary conflict, recognise problems early and prevent other people's actions from disrupting the direction of the business.

For someone dealing with authorities or large organisations, the traditional obstacle-clearing quality is often interpreted as support when navigating paperwork, approvals, contracts and administrative delays.

For managers and leaders, Garuda represents something slightly different — authority without instability. One should be able to make decisions, protect one's position and command respect without becoming consumed by the conflicts taking place around them.

Physical Details

This is a substantial three-dimensional Phra Krut casting, finished in a warm golden tone and presented with both wings dramatically extended. The front shows Garuda in a commanding frontal posture, with a crowned head, strongly modelled face, layered plumage and a compact human-like torso above the lower ornamental form. The deeply worked feathers across the wings give the piece considerable texture and visual depth.

The reverse is comparatively restrained, preserving the broad silhouette of the outstretched wings and the substantial body of the casting. This contrast makes the detailed modelling of the front particularly prominent while showing the solid construction of the artifact from behind.

The piece is now housed within a clear fitted protective casing with a metal suspension ring. The transparent casing follows the unusual winged outline closely, protecting the projecting extremities while allowing the complete form of Garuda to remain visible from both sides.

Recommended Pairing

Phra Krut works particularly well as the principal authority and obstacle-clearing artifact within a combination.

For stronger protection, it may be paired with Wua Tanu, which was also how I personally carried and worked with this piece during the Golden Mile period.

For business and customer-facing work, a metta or maha niyom artifact can provide a complementary quality: Phra Krut represents authority and the removal of obstruction, while the second piece supports goodwill and favourable relationships.

The pairing should remain simple. Phra Krut already carries a strong and complete symbolic identity on its own.

Personal Notes

My connection with this artifact is inseparable from my relationship with Arjan Jit.

I originally followed him because of his connection with LP Up and Mae Pim, but over the following 15 years he became one of my spiritual advisers. During the same period, I supported many of the temple-building initiatives connected with his work, contributing more than $1 million from the renting of his sacred items towards those projects.

Many of those objectives have now been accomplished, and Arjan Jit seldom produces new pieces. Proper sacred-object work takes considerable time and effort, and his later approach has become increasingly selective.

When I entered Golden Mile and encountered competition, obstruction and people whom I believed were working against me, I kept AJ Jit;s Krut together with my Wua Tanu from Por Sala Tan. In time, those difficulties cleared and the individuals creating problems fell away, while my own path continued.

For me, that history gives the piece a meaning beyond its physical form. It represents a long relationship with the master, years of supporting temple work, and a period in which protection, stability and the ability to keep moving forward mattered far more than simple good fortune.
