Based upon his recommendation, I decided to make the journey and meet Ajarn Prakong personally.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat was when I obtained these pieces directly from him.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat interested me was not simply the Guman Thong image, but the background of the master. Ajarn Prakong is an older lay practitioner associated with \u003cstrong\u003eMon wicha\u003c\/strong\u003e, with knowledge passed through several recognised teachers rather than through a commercial amulet-making background.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003ecemetery soil placed beneath each Guman Thong\u003c\/strong\u003e also gives the batch a distinctly traditional character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor me, the strongest point remains the provenance: \u003cstrong\u003eI did not obtain these later through the secondary market.
