Wat Pa Kae Yong

Phra Khun Paen Nuea Hom (Fragrant Khun Paen) – Gilded with Gold, Embedded with Copper Takrut

Quantity: 270 pieces
Temple: Wat Pa Kae Yong, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai
Creator: Phra Athikan Nares Thanapanyo, Abbot of Wat Pa Kae Yong

This first batch of Khun Paen Nuea Hom was created entirely under the abbot’s personal supervision. From the careful gathering of wan ya maha seneh (sacred attraction herbs), to the mixing of powders, to the pressing of each amulet, he oversaw every stage. The project was dedicated to raising funds for the restoration of the temple’s sala (hall) and monks’ quarters.

Though still very young—only in his late 20s to 30s—Phra Athikan Nares has already become well known in Chiang Mai for his sacred works. In addition to this Khun Paen, his Khun Chang and his Takrut are especially respected. His Takrut earned the title “bee Takrut,” because during ceremonies swarms of bees were seen circling and settling around the ritual grounds—taken as a strong sign of auspicious power.

The Khun Paen batch itself underwent a series of powerful consecration rites:

  • Wat Kong Sai, Chiang Mai: Placed inside the ordination hall for three months during the continual chanting of the Patimokkha.

  • New Year’s Eve Ceremony at Wat Pa Kae Yong: Blessed during the overnight chanting and prayer.

  • Wat Chiang Saen Ceremony: Included in the great all-night chanting rite, suan mon tan, where sacred recitations continued from dusk until dawn.

  • Wat Pa Kae Yong: Completed with a full three-month Vassa blessing, further deepening the amulets’ strength.
