Biography & Spiritual Journey
Arjan Thong Talad Phlu, known respectfully among sak yant practitioners and spiritual devotees, was a highly revered master in Bangkok. Born in 1951 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, his fascination with sacred tattoos began in childhood. As a youth, he often followed local masters and sat quietly observing their craft, patiently waiting for the chance to study directly under them.
Upon reaching ordination age, he was ordained as a monk at Wat Pleng in Bangkok. After some time, he disrobed to pursue lay life, dedicating himself fully to the study of sak yant, sacred scripts, and magical incantations. His commitment to the practice was tireless and sincere.
Lineage & Teachers
Arjan Thong’s most notable master was Arjan Thieng Nuammanah of Wat Thong (Wat Suwannaram), a legendary lay occultist from the Thonburi side of Bangkok. Arjan Thieng was a powerhouse of wartime magic, having trained under giants such as:
-
Luang Pu Thong, Wat Ratchayotha
-
Luang Pu Chan, Wat Nang Nu
-
Luang Phor Thian, Wat Bot
Other teachers of Arjan Thong included:
-
Arjan Ha, Wat Yai Si Suphan
-
Bet Hirunruji, Wongwian Yai
These influences cemented his foundation in both ancient Khmer yant lineages and Thai-Buddhist esoteric practices.
Legacy and Teachings
In 1977 (B.E. 2520), due to the growing number of disciples and the demands on his time, Arjan Thong opened his home in Talad Phlu as a formal sak yant samnak (house of practice). From that point on, he fully devoted his life to his students and spiritual work, eventually gaining national respect.
Arjan Thong always emphasized that the true power of a yant lies not in the ink, but in the virtue of the wearer. He once humbly said in an interview:
"If tattooing made people rich, I wouldn’t be living in a wooden house. I tattoo because people come with faith—not for money. So I must tattoo with sincerity every time."
Passing and Recognition
Arjan Thong passed away peacefully on May 9, 2014, but his legacy continues. His disciples uphold his teachings, and many of his yant designs remain widely recognized, especially among devotees from Bangkok and Thonburi.
His samnak was located directly opposite Wat Pleng on Phetkasem 23, Bangkok, where his spiritual presence is still felt.
